Keyless Go

Hey,
I was wondering if someone could ost pictures up of the keyless go? The start/stop button along with the remote. My dealer contacted me a few weeks ago to say an order that was canceled is now available and has the following features:

black on black (metallic paint)
Sport package
Black birds eye maple wood trim
Navi
Keyless Go

The car is suppose to arrive at the dealership sometime this week, its at the dock currently in a nearby city, how long does it usually take to get to the dealership?

Thanks alot guys.

Daniel

Keyless go remotes look identical to the typical smart key remotes, just a different part internally. As far as keyless go operation I am not sure if it is a button on the top of the shifter like 209 CLK's, or the ignition switch that has the start stop button similar to the 221 S-Class or 164 ML's. I recall seeing a picture where it was similar to the 221 where the start stop is a button that covers the ignition switch on the dash and say start / stop

Here are photos of my (Canadian) car. It's slightly different than the button on the S-class as I guess we use symbols rather than text labels. The key is no different.

The key itself is the same.

The Start/Stop button, but with a symbol instead of text. (I guess it's got something to do with English/French maybe?)

The button in relation to the dashboard.

And the lock button on the door handle. (Sorry, the car is really dirty -- just got back from a roadtrip)

I just bought my first benz Thanks for the info/pics guys. The setup I bought and the price:

C300W4M
Obsidian Black w/ Black Leather Interior
Sports Package
Navigation Package
Keyless Go
Sport Package w/ Birds eye wood

Paid: $55,000 After taxes. $49,000 Before taxes

I'm picking it up on friday (will post pics for sure) but the guy said for the keyless go the dealer has to install it, it comes from the manufacturer tho (the parts in the box with the car). Is this true?

Regards,

Daniel

Congratulations! And welcome to the family.

I vaguely remember something about installing the ignition button onto the dash. But I don't think that they would replace the door pulls.

Peabers, thanks for the pics, i really appreciate it! Yea I was wondering if those came like that from the factory or did the dealer install it as part of the pre-delivery inspection? Because I saw my car yesterday before the PDI or anything was done but it didnt have the button but on the order it said keyless go was included. (had everything else tho, salesman told me dealer had to install it and the manufacturer just sent them the parts with the car for the keyless go)

Best Regards,

Daniel

edit:

Ya I also got them to throw in the I-Pod Adapter along with the installation, otherwise I paid MSRP.

The Keyless go button is simply that. It is literally a plastic button that fits in the EIS just like a key, but reads "Start/Stop" for US or th symbols for other countries. The EIS is different for a keyless go car since it must recognize someone pushing on it to start the car. This button can simply be removed and the key also used to start the car normally (In case Keyless doesn't work). This button my be what the dealer has to "install" but I am not sure being I'm in the US and we don't get this option yet. BAH!

I would be happy if they just had a Keyless start feature. Put an antenna inside the car, with the start stop button. I can unlock the doors with the remote, get in and push the button. And that would require minimal additional parts.

I have key less go on my S-Class and I like it. It works every time. Even tried once by error to close and lock the trunk with my key laying inside, yes, it did not close. Great.

Now I have key less go on my C-Class, but it works only sometimes. Sometimes it will not open the doors, sometimes it will not start and I have to hold the key in my hand to start. We changed the batteries but that did not solve the problem. It's frustrating when the dashboard message reads: "No Key detected" Other times it works fine.

Then I thought the car may be getting confused when I carry both car keys. Again sometimes it works sometimes not.

On my S-Class I think it's a great option, on my C-Class I think it's a pain in the butt.

Congratulations on you new car! Which dealership you ordered it from?

I ordered mine at the Richmond dealership back in September. My build date was in mid-December. The saleman told me the car has arrived Halifax on December 30. Still waiting for his call.

My build date was also in mid-December. However, the last week's update is that it's still in the waters to Halifax. Timeline: 2-3 weeks on the boat, 1 week from Halifax to Vancouver via rail. What was your final price? MSRP so far for me...will negotiate when the car arrives.

Heyy,

I actually got mine through Mercedes North Vancouver. One of the salesman said a customer canceled their order so I bought that one. I paid about MSRP with Ipod adapter and installation free. The ship date of the car was in december 16th and got here yesterday.

Regards,

Daniel

Congratulations Daniel! I hope you're enjoying your new car. Let us know how the sound of the ipod vs CD audio vs mp3 CD's, if there's a clear noticeable winner.

It is a cool feature, but for those of us without it I say don't get too down. It's not earth shattering, and you know there is a pretty cool feature even if you have to use the key?

All you have to do is put the key to position 3 and let go, and the car will always take over and start. No need to hold the key over there for a second, once you get it over there, and let it go back to its seated position, the car takes over and starts. It is rather cool I think. ha-ha

It wasn't really the ignition that sold me on it... it was the fact that I could open the door without searching for my keys. Once in a while, at night, I would use the buttons on the remote to unlock so that the "go home" illumination come on. But 90% of the time, I don't need to go through my pockets... especially appreciated during the winter time when I am wearing gloves.

My reasons exactly ... winters, coats, keys in pockets ... and now I don't have to hear my wife saying "why don't you always put your key in the same pocket"

Same reason I love the Bluetooth ... no fishing for my phone ... me and my car of the future ... a match made in heaven.
