What a waste: DUI - W204 ? 1:0

Stopped by Southbay Mercedes to pick up some part for my car, happen to see this. Apparently, some drunk jerk hit the light pole in front of the dealer lot, and that took out a new C350 (w/ awesome AMG package) and the next by new CLS.

Judging from the damage, look like both the C and CLS might be totaled.

Typical lousy phone pix, but you get an idea. Couple months from now, if anyone ever seen a Salvage title C350 in the resale market, with zero mile, this could be it.

At least it's good to know there's no structural/frame damage, interior stay intact w/ no airbag deployment, so if they fix the body properly, all should be good :-)

hood is crumpled like paper

Id say its a body shop job then sold as a CPO

it held up pretty strong! got to say, that car looks really nice (when you ignore the hood, and all...)

Sad. I hope they caught the guy (or girl).

I used to be in insurance, that's about $12K in damage assuming California labor rates around $85-$90 hour. Most INS companies total a car out at 50% to $80% of NADA value. That car is far from totaled.

a kind of george of the jungle story only with a pole.

aowhaus 02-13-2008 10:32 PM

did the guy land on the hood?!!!
there's no damage at all to the bumper and just a little off the top of the fender.

I agree, that doesn't look like a total loss to me. However, it has enough damage it now cannot be sold as new. I am guessing it will be repaired and then sold at auction as a "demo" or "program car". Interestingly, this damage might not ever show up on a carfax search, depending on how the paperwork is handled.

^Thats scary... not on a carfax? Thats kinda bad since alot of people rely on the carfax when purchasing a used car.
