AUX and ipod link

will I lose the AUX input if ipod link is installed?

I have the ipod connection from the factory, and I ALSO have the AUX input. They both work....but I don't know what would happen if you had it installed after delivery. My guess is that your AUX input will still work.

i'd like to know the same thing.

funny thing is that here in France, the ipod can NOT be ordered directly
from the factory, but it's the garage that installs it.

I fitted the ipod module myself and confirm that you can have the Aux port as well as the ipod lead in the glovebox, the instructions with the kit suggest that you remove the Aux port from the glovebox casing and use the hole for the ipod lead, however, if you drill a hole to the same diameter next to the Aux port you can have both :y

thats peculiar...i have factory installed ipod integration and i dont have an aux input - just the cable for the ipod in my glovebox.

itcrashed, you will probably find that if you remove the plastic cover between the door and glovebox you will find the aux port strapped up as the factory use the aux hole in the glovebox to introduce the ipod lead and rubber bung!

I just popped off that panel and i do see the AUX wire sitting there. is there a way to run the wire out without having to drill a hole?

Ahhh - found it!

The hole you have to drill is rather large if you want to use the mounting hardware already attached to it...You might have to drill a hole that is about 2/3" in diameter to properly mount it. I may just drill a 1/8" hole and run a cable to it...dunno how much more it might degrade the signal though.

Yo Ancill, how much did the iPod kit cost?

ancill 05-02-2008 03:17 PM

Yojason!! the ipod kit was £200 (Genuine Part) then the in-line amp was a further £20

ancill 05-02-2008 03:21 PM

W204 C300 the hole diameter is not so big and is into plastic that is not very thick, honestly you can't go wrong.........just make sure there is nothing in the glovebox before you start drilling:naughty:
