C300 Special Edition Black Series? 1 of 10?

Found this on Ebay. Looks like a bunch of bull**** to me. What do you guys think? Look how small the pictures are too. I was curious to see what the badging on the fender actually said. It is too small. Either way, I highly doubt its legitimacy. Its crazy that people try to pass off crap like this on Ebay.

gotta love the tiny pics

Notice it says Edition 10 Series by Mercedes Benz of Sacramento. They just added a bunch of black accents to make a unique looking model, but calling it an Edition 10 Black Series they are trying to capitalize on the real 10th Anniv. Edition 10 SLK & ML's. Very shady.

AMGTestDriverNJ 05-14-2008 01:07 AM

I didn't even realize at first but,

thats a legit stealership trying to pass that car off as a "special edition!" MB of Sacramento shame on your internet department!!:nix:

aowhaus 05-14-2008 01:24 AM

Dealership-created special editions have always been tacky.

I'm surprised that this dealership has committed to make 10 of them (if they are lucky to sell them all). :bs:

Those wheels look like winter steelies.

angeloxnet 05-14-2008 01:26 AM

ebay? wtf?
starting bid at $200? why not make a real effort to get real pics and information if they were at least one bit serious about selling a car on ebay.

i cant possibly imagine this being supported/advertised by a dealer.

AMGTestDriverNJ 05-14-2008 01:33 AM

They should take some pointers from

yours truly if they want to mod and sell their own special editions hahahaha. Suckers:rolf:

Untertürkheim 05-14-2008 02:16 AM

Wow, what a joke of a dealership.

aowhaus 05-14-2008 02:24 AM

do they also sell a Diamond Limited edition with one of these on the back?

AkaSigFreak 05-14-2008 04:41 AM

That's stupid:crazy: They stuck some cheap ugly 18" rims, an aftermarket spoiler and painted the grill fins black on what appears to be a base model 6 speed manual tranny car. I think they made these for the new Fast & Furious:zoom:

narky 05-14-2008 11:40 AM

Only for the fools.

and...

I'm gonna get that, drill a hole near the top, thread through a thick, thick yellow gold chain, and wear it around my neck. RESPECT.

Whatever happened to having some class?

Heh:

"Peel N' Stick: INCLDUED 3M ADHESIVE AND EASY INSTALL!!!!"

.....and easy to steal! (not that I would want to though)

Kieffer 05-14-2008 12:54 PM

Didn't MB just do an "Edition 10" of the ML to commemorate its 10th anniversary? You obviously can't tell from the microscopic photos, but it made me wonder if the dealership hadn't stuck a couple of these ML-specific badges on a C300. I agree with everyone else - dealer-made special editions are so tacky. Some Ford dealership around here used to put these awful decals on certain vehicles. The decals said "Rocky Mountain Edition." Barf. When I lived in Kansas City years ago, a Honda dealership would put leather upholstery in certain Accords and advertise them as "leather editions." I wonder if the S&M communities were buying them in droves. :)

alexyanglaw 05-14-2008 01:29 PM

I will not get that car, that dealer just doing that to try to make a sell on their 08 model, and the wheel is not that good either.

what a stupid dealer!!:smash:

chilledbenz 05-14-2008 03:29 PM

+1 to the posters explaining that its a Special Edition done by that particular dealership. They have blended the wording of Special Edition 10 which honored the ML's tenth birthday of being in production and played off the words Black Series which was a limited run of SL and CLK ..for lack of a better word..race cars.

Some of you might not be old enough to remember this, but in the 60's is was common practice for a dealership to take a stock muscle car and tweek it out. Do a google search for Yenko and you will find that not only was this a run of the mill car dealership doing these cars, but that the cars today are some of the highest priced and most sought after cars.

That being said, it's very unlikely that this C will be anything like that, as it appears all they did was upgrade the exterior and try to prey on people that know a little bit about Mercedes but not enough to tell the difference between the real "special editions".

No such thing. Just a dealer thing. People will think there car is worth more on trade cus they bought a Speacial edition.:smash:

AMGTestDriverNJ 05-14-2008 04:45 PM

Looks like Mercedes of Sacramento just ate 10 black C300's haha.

RLE 05-14-2008 05:02 PM

Black

<<Looks like Mercedes of Sacramento just ate 10 black C300's haha.>>

Phil Smart MB in Seattle screwed up a silver C300 Sport with big wheels, some kind of rear bumper cutout thing with a red light in the center and somebody's body kit. Looks like hell.

They've had the thing six months and no sale.

As to calling these particular cars "black series", the ad does not use those words.

The new edition of Top Gear (read it free at Barnes & Noble like I did) has a road test of the new CLK 63 Black Edition and it's a rocket ship. Quite a good article. The car apparently does not the share the C63s bone jarring ride.

Cygnus X1 05-14-2008 08:25 PM

..............:bs:

AsianML 05-14-2008 08:36 PM

Despicable. I wonder what the extra markup is for calling the Edition 10?

Red light in the center? Sounds like the Brabus rear diffuser.

Actually it does:

"2008 "NEW" C300 Sport, Special "Edition 10 - Black" series by Mercedes Benz of Sacramento"

No the ad doesn't mention anything about engine mods, but as I mentioned above, its just a play on words...they think by adding special edition..or the word black followed by the word series...that people will assume things and associate this car with the SL and CLK Black Series cars. Smart move on their part to sell cars to people unfamilar with the Benz lineup...bad move on their part by looking stupid to their already loyal Benz customers.

Derspeed 05-15-2008 10:09 AM

It worked for Yenko. :rolf:

Larger Pics

I emailed the seller asking for some better pics (I pretended I was interested -)

I have to admit, it looks sharp. I wonder why they didn't do this with a car with a black interior - would go more with the theme.

Hmm, your right - it does look rather sharp. I would have preferred it with more silver than red, but yeah whatever floats your boat. Thanks for the research!
