so the front carbon fiber pins close flush like the picture shows, but the rear, according to the above post, do not sit flush, even when you put on the new carbon fiber pins???

wait... unpeel the cap?? Is the cap the part that has the mercedes star on it??? you are saying that this a separate piece from the carbon fiber stem?

what do you mean "unpeel"? Is it a sticker that you put on top of the cap?

Yes, it's separate piece. I guess this way they could just give you the AMG caps if you prefer it over the star. And it's not just a sticker. It's etched and painted plastic.

Hey, Is there a better solution for the back pins? You guys didn't use them or had to modify them to get them to fit?

What do you guys think of this sets of door pin? I got got them today and swap out the front set. They feel really solid and sit almost flush.

Why don't we just cut the excess length (portion that stick out) of the pins when the rear doors are locked? Can I just do this? So when it locked it sit flushed with the panel? Thanks.

I cut about 1/4 inch from the bottom of mine and drilled it out to within 1/16 inch (estimate) I don't want to risk cutting any more off.

I meant cutting from the top when doors are locked. Then maybe put over a chrome cover if needed. Not cutting from the bottom. Thanks.

Now it's my turn I dought that would work as most of the pins that I have seen have decorative rings along the top. I'll take some pics of mine this weekend I may be able to cut a little more off. To clarify I think the bottom of the pin is down as far as it could go but there is still a bit of space in the pin to push it further down.

Why would you even bother cutting it if you are going to cover it up? Why not just cover it up and save some work?

Who I don't think we are talking about the same thing. I am talking about the metal pin covers that replace the stock plastic ones. In the front they unscrew from the cable and the new ones just screw right on. The back doors though are held onto the cable by a ball joint so they cannot be screwed on. Some forum members have glued them on one I believe took his rear door apart and crimped the modified cover onto the cable. I went for a pressure fit method as this is what I am familiar with from the watch world.

Here is a E-bay auction for the pin covers that I have.

ok, let me try to clear what i meant here. On the rear doors, thos lock and unlock pin stick out like the sore thumb even when the doors are in the lock position. Because of this the occupants in the rear tend to pull it up while sitting in the back, and will cause the fall out...My question is that " can I cut this down so it won't stick out so much when the rear doors are locked?".
Thanks.

I was thinking about the Brabus ones too, but I saw some brushed aluminum ones for a CLK, but I'm not sure that they would fit. What do you guys think?

How much shorter are those than the stock plastic pins? I like the look and think it would be a simple clean looking add for a black interior with the aluminum trim.

I'm not sure, but they look like the same size as the Brabus ones. I thought they looked good too and they are $15 for a pair.
