C300 Current market prices.
 

Hi everyone,
I live in the US and I am looking to buy a new 2008 C300. The invoice price for this is $29,388 and MSRP is $31600. I am quoted $27,300. This is excluding any options (auto, ipod etc). With automatic transmission, ipod kit, metallic color, destination and dealer fee it amounts to $31,300. With sales tax and tag registration it will be $33,500 OTD. Is this a good deal or are people out there getting better deals than this. Considering that the 2009 model is going to be in the market in a couple of months, do you guys think this is a fair price?

What's the current market value that others are paying. Appreciate if any one can post their OTD prices. That will help newbie's like me.

Ok, as I'm sure I'm about to horrify everyone... I got mine at $500 over invoice, with added options and extended warranty ($4k more) and wheel/tire warranty which I consider worth it here in Jersey ($799 more for that one)..

Mine was $51k OTD.

As a reference, I just signed a contract today for a 2009 c350 priced at dealer invoice. It looks like the deal you have is below invoice which I would think is very fair.

I started a similar thread a few days back. I just ordered an 09 C300 sport.
Manual trans, P2, Multimedia, ipod, metalic paint. for 10% off of the total MSRP. According to edmunds, i am getting it at almost 1200 under invoice.

that's a good price.

i was looking for the 08 C300 too. and i got a 10% off MSRP offer. i think i will go ask for them to lower the price more.


BTW. how much is fair for the Extended warranty?

I would try to get some knocked off but my dealership claimed absolutely no discounts were available on the "NEW" extended warranty pricing. See what yours says as I'd be really interested to find out if I got a little hosed with that aspect ;-).. I believe it was $4,008 for a 6 yr/100k mile extension.

The deal I got 2000 dollars under invoice is good, but considering what atmun has mentioned (1200 under invoice for a 2009 C class), I think it's better to go for the latest model. Ofcourse not evryone can get a similar deal, it depends on how desperate the dealer is and other factors, but personally, if a 2008 C class is 2000 below invoice and a 2009 is 1200 below, I think it is better to go for the 2009. What do u think?

At this point if your not too picky on what color/options you get, I would hold off till the 09 models start rolling into the lots. They have stopped taking orders for the 2008 model so its only a matter of time before 2009's come in and the dealers will really be wanting to move the 08's out. From what people are posting on this board there isn't much difference between the 09 and 08 U.S. model. One of the main options for 09 is memory seats but is only included in the leather interior package and unless your ordering a car, the dealers don't put the leather package on the cars they order for themselves. But from your description you didn't list any abnormal options (pano roof/manual trans) so theres a good chance you will find a left over 08 model to your liking.

I agree -- definately go with an '08... there's more negotiating power PLUS you get the cool folding side mirrors :-).

I don't know about you, but it comes in handy for my driving through Hoboken's narrow streets with trucks double parked.

Dang, how are these new C's selling for so much under invoice?

They aren't selling..so they have to mark them down..its the same with all the cars now, the only exceptions being the Honda Civic which seems to sell at full price no matter what the economy does and the Toyota Prius. I keep reading posts like this and check my dealerships online inventory to see what they have and right now there are 18 2008 C300's and 10 C350's sitting on the lot. Normally that would be a good thing, but with 09's coming in anytime now they have to be a bit worried.

Not true.. the new A5's are still selling at MRSP+ w/ waitlists until fall.

I'm trying to decide between the C, 3, and A5 to purchase sometime in the next 6 months, and the amazing deals on the C (even the new 09) is tempting.

Wow, I was one of the first ones in my area to own a W204 and paid full pop MSRP to get the car I have :smash: In contrast in the same year I got over $150K off the asking price of our one year old home the builder was dying to sell, in the grand scheme of things you break even over the course of a life time, just buy the car and enjoy it. No regrets here :y

I'm with you there, I had to order mine, wait six months, and pay full sticker price (I did get about 500 worth of extras thrown in though). If I would have waited till now I could walk onto the lot, have 18 cars to chose from and get at the very least 2k off the sticker. Oh well, I needed a car at the time and couldn't have waited, but theres something about that grand scheme of things idea, I saved a good amount of money on my R class so it made up for it.

By the way the comment on cars selling for less than M.S.R.P. was a generalization. I'm sure you can name off quite a few cars that aren't getting discounted, Lambo's, Ferrari's, the A5 as you mentioned, its all supply and demand. When theres more supply than demand the price goes down, thats the case with the C at the moment.

I would be grateful if anyone could tell me why you blokes can buy a MB C Class in the USA for under $30,000 when we in Australia have to pay A$91,000 (C280 Auto). Our Dollars are near parity.John

I too paid full MSRP last August, and we got the first W204 delivered in the Pacific NW.

We were planning a long road trip and I wanted the car for that trip, so there was no question of waiting for the price to come down, though I knew if would - always does. Simply not relevant to our decision.

As for pricing in the US market vs the rest of the world, yes we get a real deal....the market here is very large and very competitive, with relatively low consumption taxes and an independent, franchised dealer system. All that adds up to generally lower prices than the rest of the world has to pay for the same car, even with the dollar in the tank.

In a state with low or no sales tax, it is indeed possible to score an automatic C300 for very close to the $30k mark, or just a bit over with the typical options. We paid $35k last August for a Lux automatic and the P1 package - that same car now could be had for $32k or less in many US urban markets where there is dealer competition.

The C is selling quite well, actually, but is the mass-market car for MB, and dealers generally have a good supply - combine that with a dicey economy, and it's a buyer's market for sure.

On the other hand, John, I wish I could choose to buy the 4 cyl diesel you're driving....not for us, at least not until somebody at MBUSA wakes up and smells the reality of where the market is headed. [ I also had a fair amount of time behind the wheel of your model Peugeot, but that's another story....]

the australian auto industry is protected. to be sure, the US has some of that too, but mostly for light trucks.

$1971 for 7 years 70,000 miles extended warranty :) i think it would be a little cheaper but not much.

got the car for $36600 OTD for white C300 with PII, Auto,Ipod,Pano roof. which i think it's a really good price:p::D

I got my at invoice for 42K back on October and I wanted to traded for a C63 and I was offered 31K :confused:

that sound about right but the value of your car will be $20,000.00 at six month from now have you considering purchase a Japanese car like the Acura TL?
