17 Attachment(s)
Decided to do a DIY for those who wants to change their interior lights.

Like every other DIY you are doing this at your own risk
MBWorld.org or myself will not be responsible for any damages done to your car.

So lets get started

Tools:

- flat tip screwdriver

- soft microfiber cloth

Front dome lights

Cover the screwdriver with your microfiber cloth and stick it in the side of the light cover and pry it with little force

then pull down when you see an opening on the top side of the cover

Attachment 384982

Now that you see the bulb change it and slap the cover back on :y

Driver side kick panel light

Pry the light cover

Attachment 384983

Attachment 384984

Change the bulb and put the cover back on the kick panel

Same goes for the passenger side

Rear Dome Light

Cover screwdriver with microfiber pry the cover from the back

Attachment 384988

The cover will pop out so don't be afraid, but in order to change the festoon bulb you will need to take part the dome which I recommend that you should do on a table.

Basically all you do is pry tabs to take apart the dome cover

Great job. I was planning on tackling the lighting project next. Looks like you made my job easier :)

There is a easier and safer way of taking the front dome light unit off. Take a credit card (One w/ the least debt) and insert it into back center(closer to you) and gently pull down. Just like Got Thang said, do it @ your own risk. Will post pic when I get home.

Does anyone know the number of this bulb? Also does Polarg make a replacement that is the same white as the M4's for it? TIA.

what is the point of this mod? someone please tell me?

Is it just brighter lights I assume?

Or are they different colors?

Also, why would you want brighter lights? The ones inside now seem perfect already?

Is it about looks or somehting? like are they color themed bulbs???

dont really see too much poinht unless it looks a heck of a lot better...:nix:

He most likely replaced the 194's with Polarg M4's.

LEDs will cause a warning if resistors aren't also used. I also think they won't go out since the draw is so low.

do the puddle light covers just snap off like the kickpanels? i didnt see the little indent on the side of the cover where you can stick the screwdriver into...also on the trunklid the light cover which is half red and half white...does that pop off also or do i have to take the inner lining out to replace that like the license plate lights...

phranksmbz 10-27-2008 03:40 AM

Forgot to say thanks.

Used this DIY to change out my:

- front dome
- rear dome
- rear reading lights

Just waiting for my visor/trunk lights to arrive this week.

All LEDs. :naughty:

I am wondering what lamps you all were using? Are all the lights 194? Did anyone use LEDS? What is the other sizes? Where did you get all the lights? I really want to upgrade all the lights and can only get the outside lights.

I prefer piaa or polarg leds. If you get a error message just put a resistor on and It'll go away and will stop staying lit or flicker
