Got to thinking...

ok so i have owned my W204 since April of this year. I will admit that the wait time for the car almost killed me (took close to 4 months). since i have had this car and have been driving it i really do like it. but it has lost some of the wow factor as of late. I own a C350 4 matic in obsidian black. A few things about the car that irritate me are the fact it does lack a bit of power (i lost a race down the street to my cousins TL-s) and the fact the the c230 is basically 25k less for a car that looks exactly the same. makes the car feel cheap. all these things aside i know have a 36 month lease that costs me around 1k a month. in another few months i think its going to be pretty hard to accept the fact that i have to spend a thousand a month to drive a car that is almost 1 year old. once i break the one year mark its going to be even harder to justify spending the money. am i out to lunch on this one or does anyone else feel the same???

If you bought a w204, you really shouldn't expect it to be a performance car (unless we're talking AMG versions). The consensus is that it's fast and powerful enough for daily driving, but it's not gonna be winning any races. I think you put the expectations too high?

don't want to make you feel bad, but damn!!! 1k/month LEASE!!! you should have just bought the car at that pricepoint.

it just works out better since i can write it off against the taxes. i am really starting to regret getting it now.

Azn_C300 - i didnt expect the car to be a performance vehicle. but maybe i did put too high of expectations on the car. For a daily driver its ok. some of you may shoot me for saying this but im starting to think that i would have been better in a 335 coupe.

Just enjoy the car as I do, there will always be a faster car around, your decision to buy MB was a good one. I love my car!

$1000.00 a month for a C350 thats insane

rs1985 08-11-2008 10:41 PM

In Canada it is pretty normal if you pay 0 down

nbturbos 08-11-2008 10:46 PM

I won't lie, I've thought about getting rid of mine for a 335i. Chipped with an exhaust they're as fast as M3's.

I knew this car wasn't gonna be fast, and I accepted it. For now.

Hmm... OK... I got the exact same as yours. C350 4matic.. And yes I notice differences in power compare to my previous car. I used to own a SRT4 (neon) Stage 2 + alot of performance mods. I beat alot of cars. and I mean cars that are 2 to 3 times pricer than what I have (SRT4 = best BANG for the BUCK).. but I got bored and I'm past that stage.. I don't really care about me losing to ppl anymore. I decided I need a luxury sport sedan. I want something practical and a plus luxurious. Thats why I bought the C class and it was my First luxury car.. I love it ever since. ppl beat me?! ah what the heck. let it be. + there are LOTS of cars out there that can beat the C class (not the AMG). If you bought the c class cause of the speed, then I suggest u to change it right away. otherwise, the c class offer luxurious sporty looks with enough power to give you a smooth fast and comfortable ride. Anyway, just my IMO. good luck with ur decision!:)

hans007 08-12-2008 08:12 AM

i really dont think you buy a C class to be beating people at races.

its supposed to be a well rounded car. I mean you might be right, you probably should have bought a 335i with a ecu flash.

also for the $1000 a month lease, i'm assuming the original poster is not an the US because thats way out of line and he mentions you can get a C230 anyway.

1K a month is insane, you should be leasing an 2008 sl500 for that much, wow, no way u are paying $1000 for just the lease... i dont believe it

Sorry but ya your out to lunch.
1) Like everyone is sayin, this is no race car.
2) Its is a luxury car with good power and very smooth.
3) Its not JUST a C class that is 25K more than a 230 ( You got a lot 4 ur $$)
4) As for paying $1000 next yr, what did you expect:nix:

Would you rather pay $2500 for the first yr and less and less as yrs go by?
Your payments are the depreciasion over 3 yrs plus tax's ( on payment ) + interest, divided by 36 months. Look at the MSRP add taxs and fees to see what your car is worth. Then take your payments add them up and your buy out plus taxs and totle them up. You will find that you are paying more but its close. OR Take MSRP add everything and divide it by 60 payments to see how that works out. At the end of the day, all payments will add up to just above selling price ( incl taxs and fees ) due to interest.

Stop worring and enjoy your car. Or trade it up but dont be shocked to find out you dont get $$$ back. You will have to pay more instead. The numbers always add up to where they should. Unless someone screwed you.|

Are you in Canada?

Egonvdv 08-12-2008 12:25 PM

i've got a 200 cdi. (0 to 100km in 11 seconds!!!!)
Grandmothers outrace me.
Me, I don't care at all.
I love my car.

I (the company) pay 730 euros lease a month / 3 years.

Having just gotten out of a lease on a BMW M Coupe - $57k buy price, 800/month lease. I can tell you that the market is HORRIBLE for subleasing/buying out leases. The comment someone made above about the dealer buying out your lease. Good luck! The incentives on the new cars are insane right now... $6k trunk money is typical for Benz and lease rates on the CLK, for example, are around 0.5%.

I'm sorry you're in that situation. In my case, I loved the coupe - but I needed more seats. However, finding someone to assume my lease was tough and I had to eat a few thousand to move to the c63. All in all, not a bad loss :D but fwiw, I'm now on a financing payment that is 1100.

blastit 08-12-2008 03:53 PM

1000 a month is standard with 0 down in Canada. I know the americans are laughing as i post this. trust me i dont like it much either but its a lease.

451/443=EW - i know the car has way more options but its discouraging to know a car that much cheaper looks the same. just my opinion. well im stuck in it now so you guys are right nothing to do but enjoy the car:nix:
