Anyone installed an iPod kit on W204 themselves yet?
Hi Guys,
I'm still wanting to install an ipod kit at some point, since the regular AUX input is such desperately low volume.
Has anyone did it themselves yet? I just want to find someday some decent instructions and pictures of it being done on an actual W204.
Hopefully someday, but wanted to check, has anyone seen this yet, or maybe you've done it?
Thanks!

Hi,
I fitted the OEM ipod kit myself, mainly because I enjoy the rewards of achievement when completing this kind of project and also because the dealer wanted so much for the work (in the UK main dealer services are very expensive, £100/hour).
Someone on this forum has posted pics of the install, try a search.
The install took me approx 1.5 hours, Im sure it could be completed quicker but I didnt want to damage anything.
The kit is very easy and straight forward to fit with the instructions given, one piece of advice I can give is ensure that you also include the ipod amplifier from MB when fitting, as without it, the volume is lower than that of the CD or Radio, just like the AUX port

Fantastic information ancill. I look forward to completing this installation before too long, and I will report my success or not, after that. If I can, I will take some pictures too, to maybe help someone else out someday.

Yes, you can get the part from Mercedes dealers, but I emailed a bunch around the country to try to find the lowest costs! ha-ha. Some really mark them up.
You can ask them to send you some instructions they printout with the kit too, to go along with anything you can find online.
I'm just waiting a few more days to pay and order because I'm trying to get another dealer to sell me some instructions before I buy it, to see if I think I can do it ok.

Hi all,
check this link out it will help you to see how to remove the head unit.
http://scripturn.com/video_v_5Fkawy-_g.html
Note the socket that is removed at the point of 1 min and 47 secs into the video, this socket is removed and fitted into the ipod adaptor then there is an identical socket that fits from the ipod adaptor and plugs straight into the head unit, no further wiring required.
All that is left to do is feed the unit and wires behind the head unit and feed it behind the glovebox (you have to remove the glovebox) and feed through the AUX hole in the side of the glovebox.

I'm selling them..
I am selling them at wholesale prices: http://cgi.ebay.com/Mercedes-Benz-iP...item2559d755d8 - http://stores.ebay.com/703power
I am in search a guide I can offer my customers, so they can save even more money. I'd be willing to offer someone a heavy rebate, if they made a quality installation guide. Nothing exclusive, you could post it publicly(IE on here), I don't mind, it's something people on here are likely to do anyhow. (Free discount for supporting the hobby)

If you have installed the kit with the amplifier, where did you put the amplifier? Both the harness and the ipod connector attach to the amplifier and cannot fit behind the radio, so it would be somewhere near the bottom of the glove box.
Where would you place the amplifier?

here my input on the iPod cable... I have it .. and i hate it... I don't think the iPod cable does not play in digital sound, it's analog still.. there is a volume limiter on it too.. compare to AUX, i like the Aux input more. Unless this ipod interface is better than factory.. And you control it through ur steering wheel.. not the iControl..
i wouldn't recommend wasting money on it if it's factory iPod connection

Where did you guys place that square shaped connector connecting the command unit and the ipod kit? I tried to store it behind the command unit but it's too big.
