How do I disassemble the side view mirrors?

so...i had a little mishap and damaged the black plastic frame on the side view mirror(the frame outide of the mirror itself). i'll have to hit mb up for a new piece of plastic hopefully its not some ungodly amount. anyways, anyone ever take their mirror apart before(not like one would have to at this point). while i'm at it i might just buy some black housing to replace my white ones.

You know i'd like to disassemble mine as well. If you find any links on how to do it please post them here too.

actually, i just need to replace the black framing around the mirror. dunno how it comes out though. so, i might not need to remove the whole assembly. i did pull on it however but it is on there extremely good so not sure if it is just a snap on part or not.

I have no first-hand experience on the C, but other mirrors I've taken off screw on from the inside of the car. Once the entire mirror assembly is lose, you can unplug it, and disassemble the housing.

nah, cuz the the cf overlay wouldn't cover/fix my problem area. i thought about getting one though.

this is what happened. i was reversing and wasn't paying attention and smacked my side view on a pole but stopped before anything major could happen. no damage to any of the mechanicals just a surface wrinkle in the black plastic frame just outside the mirror face.

You may need to remove the inside A-Pillar trim to find the fastening hardware. I'll take a glance at it today.

The mirror is on the door, not the A-post.

No question that the mirror fasteners are behind the little grille which might just pop off. Carefully.

Before you start, ask the dealer what they would charge for labor. Also, their body shop does that kind of work for lower labor rates.

Removing the Pillar is involved in this? If you have the pics already please post. I am looking to get inside mine to see how hard it would be to service the folding mechanisim.

mirror cover

Leave it up to the dealer. If they break it they are responsible.
The proper way is to remove the glass first ( i`ve broken a few).
If you pull the cover strait out it will come out, but you are taking a chance of braking the locks for the cover.(i`ve been lucky so far doing it this way)
