Audio Fadeout in Navigation - What is it?
I've updated my navigation system's map, and have noticed a new menu item, called Audio Fadeout. Does anyone know what this is?
|
Try it and tell us. You have it. Bet it'll be faster than waiting on a response to your post.

I've tried it...
... and saw no difference. I'll do further testing...

Dealer sells Navigation Update DVD, or you can get it - cheaper - from www.navteq.com

COMAND North America MY08-MY09 C Class, Version 2008 Copyright 2008 Navteq The part #s are: BQ 6 46 0238 and A204 827 37 59. If they just came out with a newer version that has the audio fadeout, I'm going to be ticked. There is nothing on the disc indicating version 3.0 or anything similar. |
I just looked at the Navteq.com site. It says that its version was released in March 2008. I purchased mine just a few months ago and it looks nothing like what they have pictured. Mine seems very C-Class specific.
Here's the navteq site for this specific update if anyone's interested: http://www.navigation.com/is-bin/INT...llProducts=YES |

Hey guys, I just bought an 09 a few days ago, and when the nav gives instructions, the audio fades out for a second then comes back on. When I test drove an 08, I don't remember it doing this. Hope that helps!
|
My update was the full update that updates all the COMAND software as well as the navigation maps. I'll look through some of the other menus and see if I find this - this has been my only real irritation with this car, as I use the navigation all the time. Our ML nicely fades the music in and out - the way it should be, rather than having both sources talk over each other.
If Bellavance or anyone else can tell me where that "Audio Fadeout" menu option is located, I'd really appreciate it. I suspect that I just don't have it or I would've likely found it by now. I do have to admit that I haven't done much searching for new options since my COMAND was updated. |
its interesting how you guys like the fadeout. on my lexus RX, the audio speaker in the drivers side fades out so it doesnt interupt the other passengers

How do you check to see what version you currently have?

Just got back from my tire rotation... the dealer stated there was no newer version for the COMAND, etc at this time... perhaps by the time I'm ready for my Service A, something will be out for us 2008 W204 owners to give us this new (much wanted btw) feature that the '09s seem to be coming with...

Mine was built in October 2007. I just purchased the latest update from MBUSA, which was a couple of months ago. The disc says:
COMAND North America MY08-MY09 C Class, Version 2008 Copyright 2008 Navteq The part #s are: BQ 6 46 0238 and A204 827 37 59. LOADING.KWI and ALLDATA.KWI VIM firmware hack is using these files and modify to work. |

ahh finally! i love the new "audio fadeout"
I did service A today and got a Command Update with new Symbols loaded like the highway icon's we have here in canada. Also when the nav is running and is giving a route direction it lowers the music slightly so u can hear it! awesome! |
MB Service did a complete download to my Multi Media system to fix an echoing problem that I had with my phone and the shop foreman told me the download updated the Nav too. So far I noticed some minor differences with icons and the new feature called "Audio Fadeout" is there. Works great momentarily lowers the radio while giving Nav directions and I got the Nav upgrade for free.
