I have personalized plates on both of my cars. There is an annual fee for that in Washington State. The Mercedes plate has been on three MBs to date.

i have two personalized plates out of 5 cars.

the reason i choose personalized is if i get a license plate number that i dont like. then i change it.

Untertürkheim 10-22-2008 11:18 PM

Go for it, but make it tasteful.

Derspeed 10-22-2008 11:47 PM

I used to do it, but lost interest. I used chassis designations.

KHill 10-23-2008 01:32 PM

I've got one on my c. I like them so I can rember it. Haha.

drevil2k2 10-23-2008 01:40 PM

Personally, don't want everyone knowing my tags, so nay.

This one is funny though:

i think on classic cars having the year and model is cool but some of the people rolling around with stupid plates is just not cool.

I have personnalized plates on Darth and had them on my SAAB 18 years ago. But I don't like the ones that you can't figure out.

Azn_C300 10-23-2008 04:14 PM

I have one. But I'm always trying to separate myself from the crowd. :nix: It's partially why I love modding :D

phranksmbz 10-23-2008 04:32 PM

why are people afraid to post their plates?

like some do it and dont care and some are just scared too?

im not going to say that im not one of the two but just curious?

the whole personalized plate thing is  :nix: mix feelings unless i see a funny one.

a lot of people on here have personalized plates, but when they post up their pictures they edit them out. IMO what's the point? you think there are more people looking at your plates online than on the road?

The best one I've seen was in NJ. it said "TRY" and it was a handicap plate, it was on a Porsche....

AkaSigFreak 10-23-2008 08:27 PM

I agree completely. That's why I'm posting both of mine.

I suppose if one is dodging the IRS, his parole officer, his ex-wife, the leasing company or perhaps has some outstanding warrants, he might be reluctant. None of that makes sense considering the car is out on the street every day. So, here they are.

i don't think we can ever get only "two" letter on the plate in Cali.

phranksmbz 10-23-2008 09:01 PM

funny thing is i just ordered custom plates and guess what it says?

[ W204 ]

If i change cars then oh well i can switch plates at the same time.

I just got my new given plates and....yeah, i didnt like what it was.

Perhaps everyone noticed my backup camera. Just taking up space at the moment.

Which finish/color would you go with for the license plate bracket?

- polish steel
- black pearl
- black steel
- other

I have Iridium and i think i might do the polish steel.

Anyone know of any good aftermarket options?

I prefer black because it matches the black here and there on the car. The other advantage to black is that when the front frame becomes pitted and marked up from flying road debris, I can sand it down and repaint it with satin black rattle can paint. I've used the same frames for a long time now. Any of the quality frames are going to cost 25-35 bucks each. The ones I have are machined aluminum and were anodized black and came from Beverly Hills Motoring Accessories (lah-de-dah) which went belly up years ago. Keep in mind that some states prohibit plastic covers over plates. My front plates are protected by Lexan which I have custom cut at a plastics outfit and when they get too sandblasted, I put another one on. I had them cut ten of them the last time and the cost was about $15. I drill them at home for the bolts. I think ratty looking plates make a car look poorly cared for.
