how noble of you.

however, I don't think they would think twice to take your money....

be a little think skin and negotiate, the worst they can tell you is no, don't worry, they will still sell you the car, they are car sales man, should be used to haggling and you can't really offend them with that price, its not like you are offering some ridiculous number.

just my 2 cents

They already told me $30k was unreasonable, and that was WITHOUT AMG wheels. I'm sure I could get the car for $30k without the wheels, but $30k, while asking them to throw in another $1010 option for free, prob wont fly.

I just emailed offering $31k for the car, including the AMG wheels. I feel like it's a good price for both of us, and I'm fairly certain they'll accept.

If they don't I'm screwed because I refuse to buy the car without those wheels and I'm already over the $30k price point I wanted to be at as is.

Wish me luck

$31K with the AMG rims is a great price. If they don't like it, tell them you'll go elsewhere. (And go to a diff dealership)

Sounds like that price should make both sides happy. Let us know when you get it home.

Got a reply. They seem pretty firm on $31k without the AMG wheels. Luckily I dont need a car immediately so I have time to look around and think about it.

TX is doing a lot better than the rest of the country so may not put up with as much abuse as one could dish out in NE and Cali for example.

Personally I like 10 min negotiations and $1000+/- either way makes no difference....especially if it makes the salesperson's day - positive karma is priceless

It would be shameful IMO to take a Ford buying tactic in a MB dealer...

In general, if one is stretching for a Benz then best to hit up all the japs and American brand dealers who will give you deep discounts, free credit, cash back, and with BMW free oil changes and service (an old Audi tactic from the 90's).

I'm not really stretching...the problem is my parents and what they'll allow me to spend.

That dealer will cave, in the meantime go to a different dealer. If you have your heart set on that car, go for it. Your offer is very acceptable and it's their loss.

Go test drive a new A4, run by the MB dealer and park it next to the C you were looking at...of course be sure your salesman/salesmanager know you are ready to buy a car and just tired of them stalling. I have actually had this work well for me three times (Integra vs. Prelude, Pathfinder vs. 4Runner, TL vs Millenia)
