1000 miles. Am I to do anything?
I'm currently away from my car and just thought about this now so i figured I would post it.
Am I to bring my car to the dealership at the 1k mile mark or do i wait till the 3k to get an oil change?
Thanks.

The owners manual actually states to wait to the one year/13K mark. Mine included a complimenary 1K-3K checkup but they are not really doing anything much with that.(mine is actually in the shop today for her first checkup)
Personally, I will change the oil every one year or 10K minimum. Maybe every 8K as that is my lucky number....

Mine went in at 1000m I left it at 7:15 am and took the loner to work. Got a call around 1:30 pm that they were done and I could pick it up anytime before 6:00 pm. The only thing I know for certain that they did was fix the whistle from the rear door, slight alingment issue and wash it even though I asked them not to.

I've read the horror stories here of free car washes, thankfully my dealership has never gave me any problems what so ever (no scratches or dints of any kind).
To answer the original posters question, if you don't have any current problems your experiencing then there is no need to take the car in until the on board computer tells you its time for A service. You can have the oil changed when ever you feel necessary now that the servicing isn't covered under warranty they will do it anytime you want to pay for it. I only keep my cars 4 years or 50k miles what ever comes first, so I tend to wait till the computer tells me its time to save myself money.

One thing I do to minimize my washing of my car completely is every few days, if I just have light dust, I use the Quick Detailers from Meguiar's. You use 2-3 towels, and the car looks perfectly clean afterwards.
I don't get a lot of mud, rain, etc. so the quick detailers work great for me.

Magic,
Keep in mind that the car holds 8.5 quarts of oil, ergo the extended oil change interval of 13,000 miles.
On the other hand, that filter isn't something to write home about.
Anyone have any thoughts of changing out that filter a bit more often? Fleece or not, it just doesn't seem substantial enough to be good for 13,000 miles.

Filter no good?
So, the engineers at Daimler AG don't know what they are doing? I am sure they would love to hear your opinion.

There is no need to change the oil before the required service. If you want to change the oil more sooner , you can. It wont do any harm or good but is waste of money. Regular oil change habbit is for older cars and is anncient tech.

I still have some of the dirty oil from my last oil change in a bucket. What I think I'll do is change the filter at 6 or 7 thosand miles and when I change the oil at 13,000 miles, compare samples of both. It might even be worth sending them off for testing.

I would change the engine oil every 6,000 miles if you want to keep the car for the long term.
I went by the manuafacturer's recommendation (trip computer) in my previous W 203. In the end, the engine started to consume oil or started to build up sludges even before 60,000 miles. I almost had to top up 1 quart of oil every 1,000 miles.

I am at 550 miles, I've been taking it really easy on the pedal. Anyone else switch the view to the MPG on the current trip and try to get it to go higher? The highest I've gotten is 24. On the highway, I'll go up to 80 mph, then let go of the gas and it will go up a little, but no where near what some people claim to get. Once I hit 1,000, it's okay to start gunning it right?
