Wow, cool watches everyone! I love a nice timepiece but don't currently wear a watch.
I had a nice Bulova once. It was stolen from me several years ago. I also had my beloved Casio calculator watch taken from me (at knife point) when I was 16 yrs old.
I wear a G-shock Frogman when I go diving, which isn't all that often any more. If I dived more often I'd spring for a nice wrist computer.

If my wife buys me a nice watch, as she's been contemplating recently, I'll post it up here.

A 1963 Omega Seamaster &still going strongly.
I dropped it in a ships bilge full of sea water in the late 60's , could not find it until opening the suction valve chest & there it was , on its way to the reciprocating steam pump. Soaked it in kerosene until visiting the watchmaker.

I agree with the breits. Too busy for me. The rich old people Rolex stigma I think can be put to rest though....like rich old people Mercedes stigma :)

Favorites are still Omega, Panerai, Cartier, and Patek Philippe.

I don't know anyone in your area. I have a very good watchmaker I deal with but he is strickly carry in. Very old school he doesn't believe that you can buy anyting from the internet thinks it is just for porn. I have brought him watches that were complete wrecks and had them come back new. Best bet would be to join timefactors.com and ask on the general watch forum if anyone knows of one in your area.

Now Patek is an old mans watch brand (also old money). I love Omegas as this was the brand my father wore when I was a kid I have 14 of them (recent and vintage).

To some extent, I do agree that Patek is still old money, but there's been a recent trend of young ballers (sports players, musicians, designers) in the know who roll with Patek. No one builds a better watch than Patek in my opinion, and the price tag reflects that.

No dought they are at the pinnacle of watch manufacturers just not my style, to old fashion and delicate even the Nataulis is not a tough watch. Now Lange is very high end brand I could live with even though they are all dress watches. Take a look at Dornblueth fantastic handmade watches that are fairly affordable (If you can buy a Rolex). Two of my watches have been assembled at least partially by Dirk Dornblueth and one of those has been DIN certified by him.
