Just curious.
I wear Explorer II white

What about you guys?

JCOnizuka 12-09-2008 04:17 PM

um.... I wear some brand I don't even know which I got in a mall which cost me $10 bucks but looks like its worth $1000:y:D.... what kind of a question is that? what does it proves? stop being so arrogant man. :smash::crazy::crazy: Pathetic

Movado Juro :y

jstaneff 12-09-2008 04:26 PM

Watch? What's a watch? Don't wear one.

When hiking I use a Suunto wristop computer with neck strap to keep it off my wrist.

Time? What time is it? Why it's "two hairs past the freckle!"

Derspeed 12-09-2008 04:26 PM

None. I hate 'em. One Movado, One Seiko and Two Swiss Army sitting in a drawer.

I love these threads

i have a few watches, i believe you dont have to spend thousands of dollars to find a watch that looks like a classic, (even though its fun to)

my best watch (and mast expensive) is a Tag Heuer Formula Indie 500 http://www.tagheuer.com/the-collecti...CAC111B.BA0850

I have two Fossil watches one is a leather banded chronograph that i wear when Im at school, the other is a formal rectangular face rose gold colors watch i usually wear to formal events. i like the looks of Fossil, but ive had some real issues with the quality.

and one G shock watch i bought at target for when i go snorkeling.

Ron Jr 12-09-2008 06:00 PM

I have over 100 in my collection. Some examples.

I'm noticing a Breitling trend. Nice to know other people appreciate them. When I bought it I was so tired of people asking "why didn't you get the Rolex". I used to tell them- because I wanted a REAL time piece. Sorry Roly owners:nix:

Rolex uses an inhouse movement while Breitling uses a slightly modified ETA movement. Most people don't know this they just have an association with the name. I was never a big Rolex fan till I purchased the Seadweller, now I plan on adding an Explorer II most likely white dial to the mix.

Norb that Inge is a lovely piece wear it in good health. Ti case? I had an IWC DaVinci chrono that I traded a few years back nicely constructed watch just a bit small for me.

piccirm 12-10-2008 10:25 AM

Uauuu!. Great response to the thread. Better than expected. It's nice to see that we have more than the love for Mercedes in common.

I guess classy and sporty goes with classy and sporty in our wrists too.

Ron, what a collection man!!!

norb 12-10-2008 11:12 AM

Yea, I'm a watchaholic too. I bought the Inge when I got the C63. But I have a smattering of Rolexes, Panerais, Omegas, Tags, and JLC's.

Those aren't my pictures, but the AMG version only comes in the titanium case and its a bit smaller than the regular Inge, which is stainless. It also has a nicer movement. But went with the titanium because of the AMG connection.

sleewell 12-10-2008 11:31 AM

watches are a non-interest to me, maybe in a few years. i have a silver Seiko that's about 4 years old and a black Nixon i bought last year. i just have other things i want to spend my money on at the current moment, but i do appreciate nice watches.

one day, one day...

Thanks that is just a small part. I know some guys that have close to a thousand watches and others with collections worth millions (easy to do with the right watches). Do any of the watch nuts here go on any watch forums? My watch home is timefactors.com drop in and say Hi I go by the same User ID.

killacam7479 12-10-2008 01:02 PM

I have a $95 Kenneth Cole watch I've been wearing since 2002. I figure once I start making more, I'll put $ toward a nice one, but I'll still with what works for now. I am impressed though at the types of watches you guys have. I get GQ magazine and it's always filled with baller watches, and I think to myself, "who can afford to wear watches like that?!?"

Wow, cool watches everyone! I love a nice timepiece but don't currently wear a watch.
I had a nice Bulova once. It was stolen from me several years ago. I also had my beloved Casio calculator watch taken from me (at knife point) when I was 16 yrs old.
I wear a G-shock Frogman when I go diving, which isn't all that often any more. If I dived more often I'd spring for a nice wrist computer.

If my wife buys me a nice watch, as she's been contemplating recently, I'll post it up here.

A 1963 Omega Seamaster &still going strongly.
I dropped it in a ships bilge full of sea water in the late 60's , could not find it until opening the suction valve chest & there it was , on its way to the reciprocating steam pump. Soaked it in kerosene until visiting the watchmaker.

I don't know anyone in your area. I have a very good watchmaker I deal with but he is strickly carry in. Very old school he doesn't believe that you can buy anyting from the internet thinks it is just for porn. I have brought him watches that were complete wrecks and had them come back new. Best bet would be to join timefactors.com and ask on the general watch forum if anyone knows of one in your area.

Now Patek is an old mans watch brand (also old money). I love Omegas as this was the brand my father wore when I was a kid I have 14 of them (recent and vintage).

To some extent, I do agree that Patek is still old money, but there's been a recent trend of young ballers (sports players, musicians, designers) in the know who roll with Patek. No one builds a better watch than Patek in my opinion, and the price tag reflects that.

No dought they are at the pinnacle of watch manufacturers just not my style, to old fashion and delicate even the Nataulis is not a tough watch. Now Lange is very high end brand I could live with even though they are all dress watches. Take a look at Dornblueth fantastic handmade watches that are fairly affordable (If you can buy a Rolex). Two of my watches have been assembled at least partially by Dirk Dornblueth and one of those has been DIN certified by him.

Fakes suck would never own one much less wear one. wouldn't be seen with a fake one. My friends are watch guys too so I'd take so much crap owning one.

S204HONGKONG 12-12-2008 01:54 PM

but I also know how a few genuinely rich guys ($millionaires) who own up to buying fakes, and laugh at the fact that they can wear a "new watch" every day, and just throw it in the dustbin if they don't like them. Movado - Sports Edition w/ silver face

dalazernet 12-12-2008 04:41 PM

Ooooh!!! Thank you for starting this thread - I love watches!

Lets see, I've got a Movado Juro that I picked up a few years back (love it) and a cheapish (~100) REVEAL watch that I wear normally during the daytime.

http://www.projects-us.com/assets/im...eal-inside.jpg
...except mine has the black mesh band instead of the leather. Its stealthy and no one can quite tell what time it is except me. Black elusive watch, black elusive car ;-).

Oh, and a whole bunch of other watches that I'm not bothering to mention at the moment ranging from Fossil to Diesel, although I want to get a Marc Ecko one soon.

Swiss Army Excursion. I would like a Tag or eqv but I can't be bothered with taking it off every time I need to run out onto the floor to tweak something 'cause someone got lost on a setup. Someday I'll have the smooth sweep of a mech movement on my wrist. But for now this SA takes the beating.

[QUOTE=scottster77;3215857]. i hear paris hilton and lindsey lohan carry fake bags,

Those two ARE fake bags.

Watch?

Used to wear a Rolex Oyster "white face" with the Presidential band, cuff links and carry a set of Mont Blancs. That was back in the Washington DC days. I am retired and dont wear a watch most of the time - interferes with wrenching and hunting. Don't really care what time the world thinks it is - the most important time is my "local" time. Lunch time is when the belly says it is and drink time is when the sun goes down.

Still drive MB products because they are still one damn fine car, not to impress some yahoo!

Life is good! :):):):):):)

This isn't bad for a pre-owned Kermit.

They also have a new one a little less than MSRP.

They are really hard to get! I had to wait 6months for mine haha Do you want to hear something funny? The salesperson at the MB dealership had the same one. Which Daytona do you have? If its the two-tone one, or the steel one, I would advise you not getting rid of those either.... I had to wait quite a while to get my two tone one too:)

Paneria anyone?

I see a new Transporter movie is about to come out.
The 1st one was dubbed by myself, and a watch loving friend,
as the "Gratuitous Watch Shot Movie".

Check the original and see what I mean. Lots of obviously posed shots,
giving a good look at his expensive watches.

I hate watches in general. I don't like to wear them, and use my cell phone as such.
Part of that comes from working with Hi Voltages back in the day, jewelry was strictly a no no. Keep one hand in your pocket (so if you do shock youself, it won't go to the heart, not to play pocket pool) that sort of thing.

I previosuly had a few IWC UTC Pilot, Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, Franck Muller, Panerai 196, Tag Monaco (most worn) and couple other passed- down automatics.

The worst buy I ever had was the Technomarine, I ended up have to give it away...

I used to go legit, and have run with a Breitling Emergency, Tag Formula 1, and Bell & Ross, but it's just too expensive of a hobby to maintain (God knows there's always a new sick-looking watch out/coming soon).

That said, I've started sporting a Kenneth Cole swanky lookin watch that's affordable, and have simultaneously upgraded to...replicas. A nice trip to Bali uncovered Bagus Watches, which landed me a Panerai, MB SLR Tag, Porsche Design. Most are wind-up or powered by movement (with a glass back) so they're very cool looking and functional.

hutch300 05-06-2009 03:48 PM

I would not feel right about fakes, no matter the quality its being something its not. to each their own.

Nice watch....but, in my experience, a step up from a Rolex could be a sundial!! No...wait...I take that back....the sun is reliable! Bought two Rolexes, and my wife still wears one mostly due to appearance...I long ago gave up on mine for lack of accuracy...and starting hearing the same from other owners who say the great-looking, upscale Rolex is the "Jaguar" of watches (although Jags have improved a lot lately!). I have a variety of Casio Waveceptors, which are not so much watches as they are display devices for the radio broadcast of the cesium atom vibrating in the US Atomic Clock in Boulder, Colorado. They are always exactly right and require no attention (powered by solar cell, change themselves at daylight savings time) and I get a surprising number of complements on the style. LOL....I wear the Rolex when I travel, when correct time can be an "approximation", and conditions might be unpredictable...I wear the Rolex to take better care of the Casios! OK...let the indignant, horrified answers begin! :rolf::rolf:

That is a picture I shot of my actual SuperOcean 46 watch showing the mesh bracelet....I did not purchase the rubber bracelet.

I traded a Gold/Stainless Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust with Jubilee Bracelet which I purchased in 1989 or so. I traded for the Brietling which listed for (I think) $3270? The invoice shows the body at $2300 and the band at $400 so the total was $2700 + tax. No cash involved.

I like the watch, I am not a huge rolex fan except for the sea dweller, my wrists are too big and rolexs look small on me

That SuperOcean is sweet especially on the mesh. I got to try one at a watch collectors meet a few weeks ago. I'm thinking of the brown dial myself.

Yes, it is a great looking watch and keeps perfect time. I was concerned about the weight on my small wrist but once on you do not know you have a watch on. It gets more compliments than I ever got with my Rolex.

I also wanted the Bronze color but when I saw it next to the blue on my wrist, I chose the blue.

Ron Jr 05-07-2009 03:07 PM

I already have enough blue dials (hate to count the black dials) so the bronze would be different for me.

Is it safe to buy watches online? I was looking at www.thewatchery.com and www.prestigetime.com at some Omega and Longines pieces, but I am not sure, if they selling original watches, since they got low prices, like 20-30 % bellow normal price.

Can you guys recommend some reliable web store? I realy do not want to spend 2000-3000 dollars on fake :-)

Ron Jr 05-08-2009 06:57 AM

Ashford.com is reliable they have been around a long time. Most of the on-line dealers are selling grey market watches. This means an AD is overstocked or has to high a qouta on a specific model. He can't move them even on sale so he makes a deal with an on-line dealer who has a broader customer base and he can get rid of the excess inventory. Down side is no manufacturer warrenty it is given instead by the seller also sometimes the serial numbers are removed so the manufacturer can't trace the AD that sold it. Most if not all manufacturers won't touch a watch with no serial number, some even confiscate them as stolen goods.

Thanks for answer Ron. I will look at it.
BTW, sorry for stupid question, but what is AD?

DavidM 05-08-2009 02:38 PM

Thanks for that website. I was looking for something to wear with suit and bought this: Raymond Weil For cool price, they are selling it for like 1800 dollars in shops here.

Ron Jr 05-08-2009 04:23 PM

No problem guys. AD=Authorized dealer.

If you are in the market for used (some new) higher end pieces I've had great dealings with this site.

...they are by no means cheap. They also sell some watches with serial numbers removed - a very bad thing.

Never buy a new watch that does not come with the manufacturer's warranty.

A quick search on Timezone.com will show you which authorized dealers will do mail order and which offer the best prices - most will beat the pricing of online only dealers.....

-White dialed Breitling Montbrillant Datora, a truly EXCEPTIONAL, unique and stylish watch. My favorite.

-Black dialed TAG Heuer Carrera Automatic with a stainless-steel band, a simple, classy, but non-flashy watch.

I have two I switch between. Casio silver/metal, and casio black neoprene bands. They were about $15 each. I guess I'm not the watch type, and I also like the retro look of them. I used to have a very nice kinetic seiko, but it stopped about 10 years back.

Unbeatable accuracy, reliability, and nothing to maintain with the solar cell power.....

Ok, now seriously. Because as a Mercedes, some watches are a really fine piece of engineering and art. Many people like to appreciate both, and of course the owners are proud and want to share it.

For day by day use, I like the Seiko Automatic movement.

JWH321 12-01-2013 06:44 PM

One Seiko chrono, one Citizen solar. I use the Citizen more than the Seiko because it had a black face and white hands, and I can see it. Its eight years old and has never had a problem of any kind.

I have my Dad's Rolex Submariner, too. It does not keep time well, and it weighs a ton. In an airplane, any sort of g-force turn or other abrupt maneuver will make your arm hurt. But its neat, and it was his, so I'll keep it forever.

Definitely. I'm a sucker for a blue dial.

My stupid beater watch is the Invicta Pro Diver. It's a Pepsi bezel with a blue dial - and it gets a lot of complements. I end up wearing it 4 days out of 5 because I am in and out of server racks and desk diving and don't want to destroy something expensive.

Whats your name on RF? I'm a member also (same username). Cool forum to visit, but there are some snobby ass people over there. My god I've never seen so many people so full of themselves.

I do have to agree with you. To anyone saying who cares, or whats the point in this thread? I ask you, why did you bother coming into it? Some people collect watches. Some people appreciate nice things. Some people are full of themselves and have to show off how much money they have by flashing around a Rolex as a status symbol. Im surprised people are so confused as to why there would be a thread about watches. Why post pics of your car? Because people share a common interest, and might just appreciate the beauty of it, thats why.

Back on track though, I have a black Citizen Eco-Drive, and a P series (2000) Rolex Explorer II with black dial. Got the Citizen from my wife as a graduation present for Basic Training, and bought the Rolex for myself about 5 months later because well, I've wanted one ever since I bought a fake one on Canal Street summer of 2012. :rolf:

don't tell anyone please. I have fakes. Rolex, Omega, and Breitling. Oh. and a genuine Casio. $100 Vs $5K-$10K. They work good and nobody can tell that they're not real. Took my Omega to the jeweler to shorten the bracelet and she (with 30 year watch making) didn't know it was a fake. I have fun. I'm so bad. I like genuine Mercedes however.

You do know you are supporting organized crime when you buy counterfeit watches? And there are some very good counterfeits but most are easily spotted by watch collectors.

Is it only because a fake one is hard to find? :)

Amazing watch right!? Best money I have ever spent on a watch, no lie. I wear it so much I have had it to the jeweler 2 times for new band pins. Sitting right now waiting for another one as it broke last week. I have had it for probably 3 years and probably has over 7000 hours wear time on it, never put a new battery in it.

I absolutely love Movado. I saved up and waited a long time to finally purchase one. Well, when I went to purchase I ended buying two. Then two turned into 6. Ive seen and looked aother brands like Rolex, Audemars Piguet, Omega, Panerai, but I can't afford anyone of those brands at the moment. The craftsmanship on those brands are awesome! For the time being, I plan to add to my movado collection and get to my goal of 24! 😄😃👍😎

I love Movado due to its simplicity, elegance, and classic museum dial look.
I have other brands like fossil, diesel, and skagen from when I was younger.

I wear a $88 Casio, purchased from Walmart and it looks like an expensive watch. It tells me what time is it. It runs much like a $5000 Rolex. Saved me $4912.00 and I keep that amount in my bank. :)

I stumbled across this thread and there are lots of nice watches I've had mine for a while now I got it because it was not as expensive as most and it has excellent movement, style, and function. Almost looks like a Rolex ahaha and only costs a fraction of one. I've had it since early release and it still doesn't even have a scratch on it and I wear it daily. that being said look at Nixon if you want a good looking well made watch.

Maybe one day ill buy a used Rolex but I feel a $10,000 investment will get me a lot closer to the C63 I want to own in the future.
