4yrs, 50K miles. Mine's a W203 but I have the same M272 engine since it's a 2006 C350.

GateKeeper 12-30-2008 03:01 PM

I think there is a much more serious issue at hand, I don't hear the engine at all, just a squeaky belt,,,,hmmmm

Ok. In Germany they only have 1 year on every MBZ and 100k km. We here in Switzerland have 3 yrs and also 100k km. You guys are lucky with 4 yrs :D

watch it again, the engine is definitely on. You can see the belts turning in the latter portion of the video.

I'd rather have the 3yr 100K km warranty! My car is almost exactly 3yrs old and I'm already past 50K mi (80k km).

Teck 12-30-2008 03:31 PM

Ok I see we both have the same problem. I'm doing almost 30k km a year (average in our small country is 15k) due if my job. Just hope that I don't have that much problems I had with the S203!

We once (when I worked for the dealer 3 years back) had the same problem with some E55 K engines if I'm right. If I'm right our mechanics used a tons of WD40 to solve the problem :nix: but you better wait for the answer of your service advisor!

myinternetsucks 12-30-2008 03:42 PM

So he called back, said that it could be the idler pulley bearing going out? any takers on that??? im not so sure, i think it could be a belt tensioner.... what do you think??????

just curious how many miles do you have on your car?

C300Sport 12-30-2008 04:35 PM

From the video it is pretty obvious that it syncs perfectly with the belt. I wouldn't be surprissed if it was either a tensioner or a bolt on component. In my experience, these have been farily easy to diagnose and repair. Good luck and let us know what happens.

Should be an easy fix. Have you driven through any torrential rains or deep puddles lately?

yeah it rained a lot the last week or two, my service advisor said that the bearing on these cars is a new design & new supplier for Merc. he said that they have been going out a lot lately. so keep an eye on yours any new squeaks or unusual sounds take it in immediately! He also said should only take about 30 mins to replace, so im stoked that its covered under warranty but not happy about things going wrong in the first year of ownership, but i guess things could be worse right????

nyca 12-30-2008 08:03 PM

It could be alot worse. And that's not just with an MB, with any car.

theorangecat 12-30-2008 08:18 PM

take it to the dealer asap or it might explode ):

f4i 954 12-30-2008 08:32 PM

do you have the TSB number?? I think since i'm out of warranty I'll have to fork over some cash to have this fixed now.
