glad i got the 350 over 300

took the baby in for service b and got 300 loaner and big difference in how the car takes off and when u floor it, it seems to take a second or two second lag, and when i have the 350 at like 4500 rpm the car is smashing the 300 takes a while to get it smashing... well anyways if anyone is looking whether to get 350 or 300 definitely jump on the 350 thats if u cant get the 63

my two cents

lol imagine... the higher model... which has higher rated horsepower... has better acceleration than the lower models with less horsepower...

who would have thought.

cars are also faster than bikes... in case anyone was wondering.
and if you can afford it... planes are faster than cars...

C350
I had a C300 loner for a few days too the performance difference is noticable, but another thing worth mentioning is that the C300 engine seems louder and may vibrate a little bit more than the C350. I think this is because it has to work harder to get to speed so you are running at higher RPM's than with the C350.

On a personal opinion side, I like the wood finish better than the stainless steel in our cars. I like Stainless in other cars tho.

In the US, I think you also need to consider that a lot of consumers go with a 300 not just because of cost, but because it has 4Matic available. Living in Chicago and being used to an AWD car, I passed on higher horsepower for better driving in the snow.

Although the 300 has considerably better fuel economy, and the manual option.

Personally, I would rather have a C300 6MT and every option, plus the LSD from the C63 030 package, for the price of a C350. Less horsepower, but in many cases better performance, and much better highway cruiser. Also, it would win in any long distance race since the top speed is the same, but the fuel consumption is lower, not to mention being faster through turns with the LSD (which also helps acceleration quite a lot).

Both felt like dogs to me with the auto transmission.

Wouldn't have bought a C class if it were not for the manual transmission. It makes all the difference in the world when it comes to driver involvement and enjoyment. Although the 3.5 with a manual would have been pretty sweet!!

Without the C300's 6MT, I would've gone BMW. An auto 350 didn't do it for me. Maybe the C63?

i had C300 loaner and really liked the chassis, engine, and transmission. however, given the $40-55k MSRP for the C-class, the interior was a HUGE disappointment.
it's sad that even as everyone car maker is improving the interior quality(w/ audi the best interior), MB and BMW are going backwards and making people pay $100k+ just to get a decent interior. imho, shifting $500 per car from the advertising budget toward a nicer interior will improve both MB's reputation, overall sales, AND resale value(for us as current owners).

Not so sure I agree with you on the Audi interiors. My girlfriend bought an 09 A4 and while quite stylish, it does not measure up in terms solidity and quality of materials.

I agree. You really have to live with the C Class for a while. Those "cheap interior" thoughts dissipate quickly. I actually like the harder surfaces too. It reminds me of my tank-of-a Volvo.

The one and only reason I did not buy the C350 was the mandatory black interior and the tin trim. I wanted beige leather which was only in the C300 at the time. Of course now, because of all the customer complaints, beige is available in the C350.

Of course, the Saks version had some beige inside but it didn't have P2 for some crazy reason so that model was out.

Marketing decisions at MBUSA are a complete mystery to me.

Something like that but the lack of P2 was the killer.

They were talking about getting the 350, P2 and beige interior all combined for the 08 models.

+2; I've got an 09 350 with the P2 package. I must say that having the burl walnut trim with the sport package is a must. I drove a C300 loaner the other day with the aluminum trim and I thought it was an eyesore.

08 Sport models did not have beige interiors.

The Saks edition did not have P2, but it had a black with beige leather interior.

I also hate the aluminum trim, but the walnut can be ordered on the 300 as well.

C350
We tested both the C300 and 350. The 300 had enough power but we were coming out of an E350 lease. I really like the 350 powerplant, and the 350 was a better deal w/ 300 options included. Also in the C the 350 is a lot peppier than in the E due to the weight difference. We love our C350!
