Flat tire - Fixed - Questions

How do you know if the flat tire fixed properly? I had a flat fixed by discount tire, when I picked it up, I didn't pay attention, looks like they plug the hole with a some kind of roubber piece insert through the hole. I don't know if this is ok. I check all tires pressure and reset my TPMS system. The low tire pressure also goes out. Looks ok now, but i afraid driving freeway with the way they fixed the tire. Thanks.

Plugging a tire was the old stand by for many years. Over the last few years, I have only gotten my tires patched from the inside with no plug. I have been told by several places that a patch holds up better in the long run...not sure. Who knows, they may have plugged the hole and patched the area??
If you are concerned, ask them how they performed the repair.

Thanks for all the quick replies. They got me into buying warranty replacement for all 4 tires = $90. I guess this will ensure me if the tire need to be replace in the future for free. I was told Discount Tire Free Replacement Program is very good. Thanks guys.

Repaired this way, that tire has lost it's speed rating. Not that it matters.

I would definitely inquire about the method of repair. Hopefully they patched the tire from the inside and plugged the hole to prevent mositure (a good Tire Rack link below). This is the ideal way to fix.
Generally, I have had just an inside patch and never had any problems. If you find that the tire was truly plugged only (hard to believe) I would be pissed -this is really old technology and while it usually works is really not the correct way to fix a high performance tire. I would at the minimum ask them to patch inside and rebalance at no charge. Good luck.
