You Don't Know What You've Got Till It's Gone...

took my car in for service a week ago due to a squealing noise coming from the F/L wheel... when i made left turns... and to upgrade the system due to the lag when going into reverse.

they said they "couldn't re create the noise"... they must not have tried very hard because on the way home i heard it again... and now a week later its much worse... also the reverse lag was still there.

so i call benz a bit angrier this time (only way to get things done apparently) and they sent girl to pick up my car and drop a loaner... so i have to go at least a day without my car... :(

i stood at my office window and stared at her get into my car move around the seats fiddle with the dash and drive away.

:obsessed:

good news is i get to drive a new car!:zoom:

So a girl drove off with your car?

Better check the rims for kerb damage then :naughty:

+1 :word:

On a more serious note, I know how you feel. I went 3 days without my car while it was in the shop for the ECU tune. I rented a Toyota Camry and man did that thing drive rough, the seats were horrible and it sounded like a toy airplane accelerating. When I got my car back I started to notice all of the things that made me buy the car when I first started test driving it.

I hope they locate the problem and get you your car back soon!

That is a very important observation. I couldn't agree more. I was at the car show in Cleveland last month and I sat in a bunch of cars. When I got the W204s, any thoughts of it having a cheap interior or second thoughts about my purchase went away. Honestly, it was my favorite car of the show (with less than 300hp:)). Even some of the higher hp cars seemed like junk. The funny thing is, the Lexus IS-F was way more impressive than I thought it would be. And the nav system blows the Benz and BMW systems away.

Anyway, I just wanted to drive your point home.

Minor bumper repair. I have no idea what's taking so long. It's good they gave me a new Benz loaner or I would have been beyond pissed since today is day 9.

C300Kid 04-08-2009 10:30 AM

Actually no..I'm still pissed.

TB5... 04-08-2009 10:34 AM

WTF!!! 9 days

*faints*

*wakes up*

DAMN!... i reallly hope my problem is found/fixed faster than that... it definitely is more serious than a bumper repair... im goin to call them right now actually :\ see how things are going.

and i was stalking my car... making sure she didn't mistreat it! :\

CarGuru 04-08-2009 11:22 AM

Op says "A girl drove his car" Wait what?? You mean to tell me these cars were meant for men all this time:crazy: On a side note in my area I never see a guy in a W204, and if I do it's always clear it's his wifey's car.

TB5... 04-08-2009 11:47 AM

Well at least you know you should have it back tomorrow. Today will probably feel the longest now though! Sounds like it all should be covered under warranty?

TB5... 04-08-2009 12:51 PM

yea i've had the car for about 2 months... so it better be!

C300Kid 04-08-2009 02:14 PM

dealer called...said the car will be done fri...but because of my schedule i wont be able to get it till Sat.

So that's a total of 12 days without my car..to paint a bumper..:nix:

TB5... 04-09-2009 03:53 PM

TB5... 04-27-2009 10:56 AM

ANNNNNNNNNND the problem Is back...

smh they said they fixed it... the squeal was apparently the rear break clips... i drove it for about 3 days with no sound... then again it started... only this time it was much more random...

taking back again today to drive with the shop foreman...

i took a video incase it doesn't happen when i drive with the service guy...

i was in a mcdonalds drive thru... so

i ordered... turned left... (heard the squeak)
drove forward past 2 windows (started taping after i got my sundae)
then turned left again and drove off...

when i straighten up you can hear the squeal lessen but it's still there as i drive straight... it seems to happen only on left turns.

patrickkc 04-27-2009 12:06 PM

oo you are from toronto too which dealer did your car from? also assume your brought your car back to the same dealership you got the car from right?

TB5... 04-27-2009 12:12 PM
