2009 Mercedes-Benz C300 4MATIC Sport (LOANER)

Hey Guys,

My uncle received a white 2009 Mercedes-Benz C300 4MATIC Sport for a loaner because he had to drop off his 2008 Mercedes-Benz C300 4MATIC Luxury for some service that needs to be done.

I have a 2008 Mercedes-Benz C300 4MATIC Sport. I test drove the loaner and wow, it was MUCH quicker than mine!

I read the specs between them and nothing changed! Why is mine slower (as in pick up) than the loaner?

I took my car awhile ago to the dealership before I drove the loaner, telling them my car's acceleration lags and they said all softwares are updated and they don't find any issues with it.

I saw a forum, regarding the DIY Throttle Reset. What do you guys recommend? Should I try doing that? I have been babying my car as in, not pushing the gas pedal all the way down.

Please help!

reset your system and let your car re-learn the way you drive...

there is a walk-thru if you search...

it worked for mine.

edit: here you go... i deceided to search as i need to do this again after my last service.

from the w204 secrets thread:

10) Steps to Reset the TCU. Resetting the TCU will reset transmission to factory shift points and the car will 'relearn' your driving style.
(1.) Turn the ignition key to the on (not start) position.
(2.) Press the gas pedal to the floor and hold for five seconds.
(3.) Turn the key to the "off" position (don't remove the key), then release the gas pedal.
(4.) Wait at least two minutes for TCU to reset.

Nope, there is no audible or visual indication that anything happened. But if you follow the steps, it should be fairly obviously when you start driving it that it is shifting differently.

can you do the reset with keyless go? I'm guessing you push in the button twice...right? (no pushing the brake, of course)

Or you can, pull out the on/off push button and use your key

remove the on/off button, insert your key and turn to the right, just before the engine starts, once completed turn key back, remove key, and insert on/off button back

Done...

The other thing maybe the 2008 4Matic need an ECU update (or is it TCU?)
I remember reading somewhere that there is a new software for either ECU or TCU that's suppose to fix the lag problem..
I am taking my car to dealer on Friday and that's one of the thing on my list..

there IS an audible sound. after releasing the pedal and turning the key (after all the steps are followed) you WILL HEAR the reset. it DOES take 2 mins and it happens EVERY SINGLE time so don't say, i couldn't hear it or it didn't work for me. it sounds like...a servo being moved or an old hard drive spooling up and only lasts about 3 seconds. actually, if you get in the car close the door and turn the key to the "on" position you'll hear all the electrons turn on behind the dash...it sounds just like that (make sure your seat belt is on so there are no DING DING DINGs. it is very difficult to hear and you'll probably miss it if there are cars flying by you or even if rain is falling hard enough, but it works, every time. this is not just for shift points...there are transmission software updates for that free from the dealership...good luck!

StickyZ, can you confirm your exact step for TCU reset??
There are 4 positions for the ignition switch (0, 1, 2 and start engine)
I assume the correct step is to put the key in then turn to 2 position then hit the gas padel for 5 seconds right?
How about after hitting gas padel for 5 seconds, do you turn to 1 then release the gas or do you turn all the way to 0??

This is just my opinion but there is no real difference between the 08-09 version, except a few cosmedic add ons, engine wise its the same, so my thoughts? its either one or two things, first it could be that the 09 engine is possibly a better engine, in some cases some engines just produce a little more power/perform better then other engines even if there the same or option 2, its more or less in your mind, yes the car does learn the way you drive and might make a slight diff in how its pushes itself but if you put the pettal all the way down you should get about same "power" as the 09, meaning that maybe you "baby" yours vs the 09 "loaner" you dont own and dont really care about which is why you think its got more bang. Again just my .02 but its usually one or the other, or sometimes both.

I too had an '09 service loaner and the only discernable difference was that it was quieter, both engine and road noise. Looks to me as though a little extra insulation was added here and there.
