Just picked up a C350 S, 3 quick questions
First off, where do you find the radio ID # for sirius?
Second, how do you turn on/off the passenger side airbag? I'm tired of seeing the air bag is off light on the dash. Third, I'm getting ready to hard wire my radar detector, what is the most popular "switched" 12volt source people use? I'm use to Japanese cars, they tend to have fuse boxes under the kick panel, but the benz seems to have it under the hood, making for a long trip just for a single 12 volt hookup. Thanks! |
#2: You can't enable and disable it. It's automatic. If you have a passenger sitting there, the airbag is enabled. If no one's there, it's disabled and that light will be on.

Well .... me being a woman i of course own a handbag with practically all my belongings in it thus must way a thousand pounds and i always throw my bag on the passenger seat thus i rarely ever see the light on :)
|
Funny, I never see the light on when driving alone. Maybe mine isn't working!
|
#1 in the big packet with all the manuals and stuff that the dealer gave me along with the car, one of them was about sirius and it has the instructions to activating the radio.
|
If I have anything on my seat, hit the brakes and ooops all over the floor. I hate when that happens
=) It's annoying how that light stays on. Do I really care if the airbag is not active if it senses zero weight on the seat? I believe every airbag car from 2000+ turns off the passenger side airbag when on one is sitting on it. Maybe its a weird German law that it must be displayed at all times. |

I think the light for the seat is a US requirement.

You realize that if there is an object heavy enough to enable the airbag, the airbag will deploy in a wreck. There may be downsides to that happening (like it turning the object that enabled it into a projectile) on top of the financial downside of deploying an airbag unnecessarily.
|
get used to it... just don't look at it or something i dunno. its not that big of a deal
|
I believe its a law that it must say air bag disabled IF someone is sitting in the seat.
anywho, it is what it is. As for the radio code, I looked around in my manual pack and found a sirius card, however, nothing is listed other then stations. There should be a way to look it up using the system options to see the radio ID. If I get some time tomorrow I'll call sirius tomorrow and see if they can pull my radio ID based on my VIN # Here's some pictures I took the night I picked it up. http://www.handsonkitchen.com/pics/benz/42909/1.jpg http://www.handsonkitchen.com/pics/benz/42909/2.jpg http://www.handsonkitchen.com/pics/benz/42909/3.jpg http://www.handsonkitchen.com/pics/benz/42909/5.jpg http://www.handsonkitchen.com/pics/benz/42909/6.jpg http://www.handsonkitchen.com/pics/benz/42909/4.jpg |
Very nice C. Looks great in red. :)
When you go to Sirius in COMAND, it doesn't display the radio code on screen? My S550 and ML and SL did... |

I vaguely remember something about if a child below a certain size is in that passenger seat that you either turn on or turn off the airbag to prevent injury. Probably important if you have kids.
Not having kids I kind of zoned out when the salesman was telling me about it. |
Radar detector
I did an Escort SRX in the the C class myself. Have lots of details for you.
Tap the cigarette lighter line for power. Run the button to the console just below the radio volume. Pass the wires through the firewall at the top driver side. You will see a foam brick stuffed into the hole that opens into the fuse box under the hood. Attach the detectors to the vertical metal braces found behind the fog light mesh. I double sided taped and zip-tied them in and they are as stable as they need to be. |
yeah the salesman did the sirius for me. unfortenetly my sirius expired .. good thing for my touch =]
