Airbag sticker type

Does the airbag sticker type depend on the interior color or sport vs. luxury package, etc?

On my black/black luxury model those damn airbag stickers are like embedded/embossed onto the sunvisors... but I just dropped it off at the dealer for an alignment job and to look at a little damage underneath from when I accidentally scraped a curb (bad luck this month)...

So the loaner car I have is a blue/tan luxury model and I noticed the stickers are actually thick stickers on the visors that easily seem to peel off... I pulled at a corner and I could tell the whole thing would come off smoothly. What the....! Its an '08 like mine too. Did they use a different sticker for those with tan interiors, or was this a mid-model year change in sticker design? I've heard some on the forums talk about simply taking time and peeling away at the sticker to not leave residue -- but my sticker doesn't even have anywhere to peel from -- it honestly looks like it is screen printed on the visor... Hrm

Your thoughts? What kind of stickers do you have and what color/model/etc?

yea i wanted to remove it... on the c300w4m it seems to be baked onto the damn visor...

i've been trying to remove mine, but its embossed into the visors too... mine's a 09 c350 sport with black interior.

No problem getting mine off. Heated it with a blowdrier and it came right off.

yours is stamped into the visor too? it didnt leave any marks behind after you removed it?

It looked like it was molded on but after I read about someone else removing it I had a go. There was a little glue left but I rubbed it off with my fingertip.

I just removed mine today. Mine was held on with some sort of goop. It was really easy to remove (no heat necessary). I think I gained 2HP from this mod :D

Mine looked just like Ricks and I also got the HP boost :)

I have the problem of removal also. First thing I do on any MB is remove all those ugly yellow labels. On the '09 C350 they appear to be imbedded into the sun shade. In my others I could peel it off and remove the residue with Goo Gone. But there is just no way to peel this label off as far as I can see.

Yeah, nobody reads them anyhow...I really hate seeing these little short girls sitting about 6 inches from the steering wheel...that airbag is really gonna hurt!!

dalazernet 05-30-2009 10:03 AM

...If no one posts it, I'll post a picture of the embedded/screened-on labels that I (and apparently others) have...

Argh... I want the +2 HP! ;-)

FTMFW!!!

Debadged!

Black interior. The sticker was a piece of plastic held onto the visor using some goop stuff (like the stuff they use to hold credit cards to mailers). After peeling the sticker off, the glue just took a little rubbing to get off -- coming off like a sticky booger.

I actually had one on my bugeye GDA.

As promised -- for those of you who have a "sticker"... it seems your very lucky... Here's what I have (which I'm sure others have as well)... I took two shots of it and one of them really shows how much of a screen print it seems to be right onto the visor as it has the texture of the visor IN IT... Ughhh. Anyone else come up with a way to get this thing off?

Looks exactly like mine on a '09 350. I see no way to remove it at all... I agree that it is screened onto the visor material. Some bean counter saved $.005 per visor...

I may check on replacement with parts and see if they have them with the stick on label.

peabers 05-31-2009 01:18 PM

That definitely sucks... I see a part # on the pic posted by @dalazernet (A221.817.23.20) so maybe you can order the visor separately.

I got a 4 hp gain... probably because mine was bilingual.

justthinking 05-31-2009 03:07 PM

I think 08 w204 comes w/ sticker type warning and 09 w204 comes w/ stamped type warning..
Had 2 different 09 loaner from my dealer and both came w/ the stamped type..
Also, material for sun visor is different..IMO, 08's sun visor has better feel..

aowhaus 05-31-2009 11:25 PM

I have a 2008 with a black interior and the label seems like it was screen printed onto the visor. I removed it but it was a real pain and very time consuming as the label always comes off in little pieces.

I've used Goo-gone and rubbing alcohol to remove it, and lots of rubbing and careful stratching with a microfiber cloth and my fingernails.
I'm happy with the results, but wouldn't want to do it again.
