Black vs White C350

What of these two colors do you guys think accomplishes all (or most) of the following?

1) turns more heads, gets more compliments

2) easier to maintain

3) still look good a few years down the road, won't get "boring"

let the responses fly!!!

Just based on #2 white is the clear choice. Black is by far the worst color to care for. I had one black car...and never will again. 5 minutes after washing it...it's dusty again. Scratches and swirls show easily.

I love white...this is my 3rd white car. Easy to keep clean and I think it looks great b/c it shows all the lines of the car

But it really comes down to personal preference

Black is a pain in the butt to clean, but the best looking color. If you like to clean your car, take black. If you don't like that, white. (but avoid that yellowish white) Any color > Calcite White

white! =]

black on black !

Black on Black on Black soon to be on Black.

1. I got lots of compliments when cleaned and waxed but very dirty when its dirty.
2. Pretty easy to maintain to me but it is a pain when its dirty, swirls, and scratches.
3. It's exciting the first time I have a car but kind of gets boring now.

Black all the way. Nothing shines like a black car.

JimPap 05-29-2009 07:35 AM

I like the white over the black, but if you've had 4 white vehicles in the recent past, you might want to look at other colors.

I have a white on black. Never had a black car but it will most likely be the colour of my next car (metallic black, to be exact). White cars are en vogue nowadays and Calcite White (C650) is a great match for the W204, esp with my black pano roof and tint.

Problems: bugs, tar, stains all show up on the car. The shutlines are also more apparent. Everyone from Acura to Volkswagen buyers are opting for white. And it is the "brochure colour" for the W204.

Black on Black

Last 3 MB have been Black on Black. Never liked the combo until I had one and now it is my only preference. A California Duster in this dry desert of LV does the trick on keeping it looking nice for weeks. I find the Obsidian Black (Metallic) shows less "swirls" and shines like no other finish.

My G35 was white pearl, and it looks clean all the time even when it was dirty.

Lucky you. Calcite white is an yellowish white. It looks like the paint is 20 years old.

alexlev 05-29-2009 10:58 AM

I purchased black knowing that I'd be cleaning the car every week. Black definitely requires more care and attention.

G2low 05-29-2009 11:30 AM

white with pano roof!

cjh. 05-29-2009 04:12 PM

Although the black looks stunning when it's clean, it is not fun to keep clean. Anytime I leave my house, I know I'll have to dust it down when I get home. Could just be the non-metallic black that I have.

Off topic- I saw a Mars Red C63 today and my jaw just about hit the floor.

TB5... 05-29-2009 04:17 PM

black > white

as hard as it is to keep black clean... white just looks horrible dirty.

JoeVal 05-29-2009 04:44 PM

The password is CLEAN

White is cooler (reflects sun better) and more forgiving.

Black is gorgeous shiny.

If you have to maintain the car yourself, you decide.
If you have who can detail and keep detailed for you, go for the black.

Good luck. JV :zoom:
