Yes its the M271, works really well and is very fuel efficiant.
Just got back from work after fitting the H&R springs, a 2 hour job when being very thorough, but now that I have done it once I could easy do it in 1 hour.
Hade to remove the rear springs once more to fit a 5mm pad instead of the 13mm that was mounted, now it looks nice, will shoot some pics further on.
Next up is the MM retrofit

Are you seriously expecting a yes or no answer from VIC? I've driven a rental car with the same engine and would say "yes", it has enough power. After all, not that many years ago when W123 200 diesels were new, we managed quite well with those too.
But if you wish a "no" answer, I'd say no engine has enough power, you could always use a bit more. But does it really make sense? Personally I admire owners who settle with the smaller engines.

I'm sure it would be fine but since vic viper has the same engine some feedback would be good - and from your post it sounds like it will be enough and not over burdened with a full load.
I agree with your last point as well - no engine has enough power, but it's not always about power.

I don't understand why people would buy a sedan when they can have a wagon... unless they are loners without hobbies (just teasing now). Obviously all our American friends are excused since they simply can't buy a wagon (and a GLK is a completely different beast IMO).
The extra space, the better/cleaner looks, the standard folding seats - what exactly is not to like about a wagon?

I suck at photography, I only have a compact camera but I am planning on buying a "halfbreed" a more advanced compact.
The M271 is a giant leap from the former Turbocharged 2.8 V6 Aero I was driving before, but heck I am approaching 30 and have a kid, I feel that I actually do not really need the additional power, I prefer the looks of the car over a big engine, I was really tired of the fuel consumption in my former car and this Merc is really good at saving gas..
It was also a pricing issue, the next engine step (the 200) would cost me an additional $4000, and that for only just about 20PS more ..
As well as driving it goes, I think it feels pretty quick, I have tried it with a hefty load yet, but I am confident itll work out fine as long as you adapt your driving.
Also noticed that my car has a shift indicator, it displays the suggested gear in the IC next to an arrow if its up or downshift to keep fuel consumption optimal.
I have contacted Kleemann and I am awaiting further info on a new software for my engine, the 1.8L M271 gets just over 200PS with Kleemann software.

My main concern was fuel economy because petrol is stupidly expensive in the UK, and since this is my first new car and also my first MB, I wanted to make sure I made the right choice. I'll have to hold my breath until it comes in!

That's scary. I had actually forgotten that a wagon is a stationwagon. Memory is getting worst.
Well at least that one makes sense. So how is the w204 a wagon? I'm pretty sure that's not a wagon in the garage.
