Matching fog lights with stock BiXenons?

Any of you guys have any suggestions for lights that will match the stock Xenons for the fogs? This is for those who do NOT want put HIDs in the fog.

I'm thinking about getting either the Philips Crystal Vision (4300K) or the Philips Diamond Vision (5000K). Have you tried either of the two? Comments please!

Apparently the DVs are brighter so I'm inclined to get them. Anyone have any other bulbs that I should consider?

TIA.

Correction: Blue Vision are at 4000k, Crystal Vision are 4300K.

I tried the DV 5K as a low beam when I still had my SLK which I think was bright enough though not as bright as the OEM. The problem I had was I could hardly see the road when it's wet. Now I just use it as a high beam flasher in my CLK. I would definitely go for the BV 4300K which should match the BiXenons.

I used HID 4300K (WHY not use HID)

The fogs on the C are inherently for display purposes only. I doubt they were designed to be good fog lights. But in any case, HIDs aren't what I want to go with. I want a simple and easy bulb swap.

I realised it's Crystal Vision vs Diamond Vision rather than Blue Vision vs DV.

you doubt that the fog lights on our benz's were meant to be good fog lights?

what is the basis for this comment?

on the same note.. for those with the P2 option, has anyone noticed the foglights really being effective in illuminating the corners while turning (with the fogs already on)?

i can't seem to tell.

i do notice curbs lighting up when im driving through my neighborhood... and it drastically lights up my surroundings at night.

the stock fogs are not that bad... imo.

I was reading about last night when I was looking for reviews on the Philips DV/CV/BV bulbs. From what I understand the general view is that they are effective at illuminating the road but are really just for cosmetic purposes. I could be wrong so feel free to correct me. But even if you read the link from CEB you'll see that the stock halogens aren't yellow enough to be effective as fog lights.

I really don't really care though because the UK isn't foggy at all where I live - I'm changing the lights to match and that's only based on looks.

They do look good asthetically that's for sure but the debate is at how good they are in the fog as compared to *real* (for lack of a better phrase) fog lights designed to work effectively in the fog.

...but at least now you know why they are the way they are.

BTW - most German foglights make great foglights - the C included...

took this from the group buy thread...

i think they look great... a good enough match for me at least... i doubt we will get better... with a non hid... i might go the simple bulb replacement path as well.

I'll insure and track mine if possible. =)

I just want something in my fogs that gives a clean white colour like the LEDs should and the Bi-Xenons do. I'm not really that fussy about complete colour matching as long as the output is clean. I've been recommended Philips Diamond Vision to get the outout below (for the fogs and eyelids - although the eyelids have now been taken care of thanks to you).

[Picture from another user on another forum.]

I think that looks pretty good seeing as though I'm never going to get a perfect match.

Note:

Diamond Visions are @ 5000K which has a slight blue tint.
Crystal Visions are @ 4300K which is meant to be a better match for the stock Xenons. I couldn't find any pictures for the Crystal Visions. I may chance it with the CVs but will probbaly go for the DVs.

I've found some UK sites selling DVs @ ~£30 to £40 and CVs @ ~ £25-£35.

Also, DVs & CVs are not legal for road use in the EU/USA which is probably why I can't find them in local shops... Also phillips does not list them in the UK website under car illumination, probably for the same reason. I assume this is because of the blue tinge in the light.

yea i will probably be going with the CV bulbs myself 4300k is proper... i want the least amount of blue as possible while keeping it white.

found some on ebay but i wonder why there are so few listings. :\

i see this on the listings tho

"Application:
Conforms to regulation ECE R37 & US DOT approved for use worldwide on roads in Europe, USA, Canada etc. It is suitable for all cars fitted with Halogen bulbs and aimed at giving extra performance and safety in bad weather conditions."

are you sure they are illegal?
