Changing 4 button wheel to 12 button wheel
Peace out everyone!
I stupidly forgot to add the 12 button steering wheel option to my options list when ordering my '09 180K, now I'm stuck with the 4 button plastic steering wheel and i really hate it, and i hate the empty speedo without the screen even more!
Does anyone know a way I can get around this problem? Is installing the new cluster and the 12 button luxury wheel possible? If so, how much should it cost? Thanks in advance guys

has the car been built yet? If the order was just submitted, wouldnt it be possible to contact your dealer to add it?
I think many people on this board are going to be confused since we dont get a choice of steering wheel in the US.
best of luck

That tends to answer questions about which is the "cheap end" of the MB line. I find this difficult to believe. It's very interesting that MB had to produce a short movie to explain the 4-button wheel while the 12-button one is "self explanatory". Wow.
Can you sell the car to someone local and buy one that has the correct equipment? I suspect that would be the absolutely least costly way to get the wheel you want. Switching the wheel is easy, getting the instruments and other bits of the car's computers would be much more involved and costly.
Best of luck.

However, if you don't want to give up, you can always try to find the part number online. I'm sure the mercedes website will have a part number and you can have them try to install it there. Or take it to a body shop you prefer and have them do it.
