Do dealers in the Northeast ever keep any 6MTs on the lots-or is that something you pretty much have to order in certain parts of the country where people are less interested in RWD? (I'm in Upstate NY).
I've yet to see one at any of the lots I've visited up here. Tons of 4Matics though.

When I was looking last year, there were 3 in the Atlanta area...but only one per dealership. They are indeed hard to find unless you have patience or are willing to truck one in.

I am in Michigan. When I bought mine, the dealer had none, but first did a locator search which turned up ten of them within the surrounding few states. 3 red, 3 white, 3 black, and one Palladium Silver in Minneapolis. It was trucked, prepped, and in my hands within 72 hours. Good hunting!

The reason they are hard to find is that they do not sell well.
I had a W203 w/manual and really took a bath when it came time to sell. There were no buyers and the trade on was insulting.
I would only recommend a manual on an SLK, none other.

Appreciate your point of view, but I would not give up years of fun for the difference in dollars at the end. We only pass this way but once!

soon to be c300
So is it safe to assume that most of the '09 6MT's are gone? With the low car sales reported in the media, I thought there would still be plenty to choose from for awhile yet. To answer my own question, though, I was looking at Honda Pilots for my wife this weekend (we're getting her car first), and all the 09's are gone... For some reason I thought the new model years used to come out in September/October. Oh well, I guess I'll just get a '10 this fall.

No manuals around here (Canada) for two reasons - they don't sell well and most if not all cars are 4Matics...
Very hard to get a RWD W204 around here, let alone a manual. If you want one, lease it.
edit: I mean no manuals on the lots, you can still order them on the C230 (now C250) and the C300.

Good to see some are still enthusiastic for the manual transmission-except for a fairly short stint in the late 1980's a stick is all I have driven for 30 years. Auto makers are making it tougher and tougher to get them, though, especially in sedans.
Sportstick: If your dealer was willing to truck one all the way from Minneapolis to Michigan then I'll talk to my local dealer this week to see if he is willing to do a little search and see how that works out.
I've noticed that MB dealers in my region seem less likely to give an online inventory on their websites compared to some of the other makes-so I thought I would post and see what others had to say.
Thanks again to everyone who replied.

I can tell you that we "try" to have one on our lot, but they seem to either sit for a long time, or go really quick. Managers for some reason do not like having them, but I think it's a good idea to have at least one available.

Just for complete info....they were glad to do the trucking, and Minneapolis to a Detroit suburb, which is 701 miles, cost me $300.

its gonna be a bit tuffer to get one cuz they dont really sell well but honestly unless u plan on keeping this thing forever i would suggest getting an auto, i love stick but honestly this is a luxury car and u will have a much better chance of selling a luxury car with an auto vs a manual, but just my .02 cents.

X3 and 2012 C coming soon
Out of curiosity, I did a comparison of identical used 2008s on Kelly Blue Book and one with auto retails for $665.00 more than the manual.
And, for some really bad news to any future sellers; the Harmon Kardon optioned cars retail for only $365.00 more than the non HKs.

I not so sure anymore. If you sell your car online, (craigslist, ebay, autotrader) you spread such a wide net you are likely to catch the enthusiast that would otherwise have to "settle" for an auto. Luck of the draw I suppose but if you are either lucky/patient you could likely do very well selling a manual...of course trading in at the dealer would mean you should probably pick up some lube on the way over...

i guess with enough time u could go that route and get a buyer but i still think ur chances of selling are alot higher if u got a auto, i mean lets face it there arent alof of em selling for a reason, people dont want stick for a luxury car but i guess theres always one, if u can find him

I certainly see your point...just depends on having a little luck. I have never really thought of the C as being a luxury car...a nice car but maybe only entry level luxury for the nicely equiped models...mine being pretty basic will likely be sold to a more "enthusiastic" buyer......see the smile on the emoicon's face...he's driving a manual...

OK I may have to agree. I was gassing up this morning when a couple of the local motorcycle cops stopped beside me to tell my the loved my car. One guy asks how much, then questions "about 50 grand"? Kinda wanted to say sure, but mine only listed for about 35....kinda made feel like a "luxury" car owner.
