OIL CHANGE AT 1000 MILE
I am getting to the 1000 mile on my c350 and want to know if its a good idea to havew the oil changed instead of waiting for the service A.
Also would the dealer do the oil change at 1000 miles or request i wait for the service A.
Also has anyone done a dealer oil change at 1000 miles.

Oil change at 1000 is not required just wait for Service A. My dealer had a check at 1000 to make sure everything is OK but I believe I have read that it is no longer done.

I had mine changed at 5000 miles because I just counldn't stand driving a year or 13K and my oil had been in the crankcase for 16 months(from build date) I don't think it was "necessary" but with the limited number of miles I drive, and them all being city and how long it had been in the car, I figured it couldn't hurt. Changing at 1000 miles is really just overkill. It won't hurt but I don't think it will improve anything either.

dam.. 1000k seem excessive for an oil change... i change mine every 6000k. my driving runs around 2000k a month and just had my car 4 months ago... a little bit too much... good luck with your ride....

I think the OP was asking about changing the oil when his new car hit the 1,000 mile point --- and not suggesting a 1,000 mile oil change interval.

1k is not overkill at all...first of all the oil that comes in a new car could be anywhere from a couple months to a year old, second engine break-in causes a lot of metal particulates to build up in the oil which not good circulating around after 10k miles.
BTW I cant believe MB recommends 10k oil change intervals. Anyone that thinks that is good for their cars has been played by MB. Do an oil report after 10k miles and you will find out what Im talking about.
My mom fallowed the MB service schedule religiously with her ML 350, and the engine blew at 80k miles. Reason? The inside of the engine was completely gunked up by the long oil change intervals which cause a rod bearing to fail completely.
Seems like MB has it perfect...oil change interval is short enough to keep the engine running fine until warranty is out, then BOOM and they make a ****load of money off maintenance.
Oil should be changed every 5k miles if you want your car to run for a long time.
