Windshield wipers don't work
Hello, the wipers on my 08 C300 don't work. They just wont turn on. I checked both fuses associated with windshield #10 and #13, they were fine, I did replaced them anyway with new ones just to be sure, but still no luck. I turn the ignition to 2nd position, everything seem to work on the stalk but wipers! Starts to drive me nuts.
Anyone can help out? Will be much appreciated.

I figured it out, boy do I feel stupid (first benz so give me a break.) You have to have the hood closed to the point where the switch near the left headlight clicks. So it was nothing wrong with the wipers.

Good data point.
Several times, leaving the wipers in AUTO, I went to a full service gas station and when the attendant went to wash the windshield, the blades engaged and knocked the squeegee out of his hand.

That has happened to me a thousand times! haha specially when I'm crossing over from Mexico... the people at the international bridge will try to wash my windshield and they'll get a surprise... I end up having to apologize and tip em either way

Whoa, thanx for this post! It was driving me nuts until I found this thread. It seems like Mercedes wants you to slam the sh*t out of your hood everytime you close it :/

Slam that hood. (bonnet in the UK) and the wiper work
Don't feel stupid, I'l do that for you.... I just filled my water container and had the same trouble. If you hadn't left the answer here I probably would have had the dash in bits by now checking out the multi switch. You ain't no fool your a life saver....

My hood is completely closed and wipers don't work (intermittent, 1, 2 speed). Fuse 46 drive engine compartment was fine. One caveat, the wipers do swipe 3 times in wash function and fluid sprays. Bizarre. Besides panzers simple hood latch fix, anyone else have this issue and how was it fixed by you or the dealer? Thanks!

Hand. Just double checked if your fault was the same as ours. On my 2009 c220 with the hood open washers and wipers don't operate in any switch position. The interlock switch is hidden in the hood lock so you cant see it. :-( Mr Beige.

Thanks for the great thread. See diagnostics for my car below. Also see my video below on how to replace the combination switch on a 2004 C230 W203.
Diagnostics: Fuse 46 fine. Wipers do Not work on intermittent, I or II speed. Wipers Do swipe for wash cycle (pushing combo switch in once). Assume on/off relay is probably fine because there is some functionality. Hood latch sensor issue ruled out because wipers did not work while driving over 5kmh. By process of elimination I assumed combo switch is faulty.
