Star Certified Warranty
Just bought a used Benz that comes with the Star warranty to 6yrs/120,000km. The dealer is trying to sell me the extended warranty (ELW) saying the Star extra 2yrs/40,000km is power train only. I looked it up on MB's website and it says
"It provides major component and power train coverage as well as roadside assistance."
Anyone know what major components are covered. Better yet, does someone have a list of what is in or out. If fuel pump and a/c compressor are covered by star I don't think the ELW is needed. Thanks.

Read the warranty paperwork that you got with it. It tells you everything you need to know. If you didn't get any, go back and demand it.

Major components and power train are the least failure prone - but when they hit they'll be a major cost. Of all my friends and people I know only one had a major component failure - transmission on a BMW 7 series.
Normally its all the smaller stuff that fails, and cost lots, so be sure to get the best warranty you can with everything covered.
Should be able to drive a good deal on EW since the margins are huge.
