Quick Question Regarding Fogs- Lamin-X

Finally got to buying the Lamin-X covers for the fogs (clear) and I was wondering if you guys removed the chrome ring around the fogs before installing it. A reviewer on the website said it is easier to do install after removing the ring.

So the question is does the ring just snap off if I use a flathead, or does it require some hard work. If the latter, Im not even going to bother.

A year later, my Lamin-X is still in place on the fogs, applied without removing the chrome ring. The edges just touch the ring, but its essentially impossible to see and has been well retained. I tucked the film tight against the lamp lens where it meets the chrome ring.

I trimmed about 1/4" around so I didn't have to deal with tucking it underneath the ring. It's been 2 years, 40k on the clock - no issues!

The chrome ring is attached to the grille. It is very easy to remove (3 Torx screws) and it makes it much easier to install. Make sure the lenses are extremely clean and dry before install. Do not use water like most film installs. You don't need it. Just center the film, press in the middle and work your way out to the sides. Then roll the excess arounf the edges. It looks perfect when you reinstall the grill and rings.

I would remove the chrome rings before installing the Lamin-X.
As the surface of the fogs is rounded, you will need to use a little heat to stretch the film and also some patience to press down the film while it sets. There will be some wrinking at the edges of the film it is not applied perfectly, but the chrome ring will hide all of that.
