anybody else not liking their 204 instrument cluster and wondering whether your stuck with what you have?

Richard2011 05-30-2010 08:24 AM

Wow. Is that a clock on the left? That's cool.
I don't really like it, though.

sirius9 05-30-2010 01:19 PM

nahh... don't like it i am afraid.

Why have another clock when you have the digital one in the middle of the dash?

just my opinion.

envyxc350 05-30-2010 01:58 PM

I like how it looks more aggressive but i like having only 3 things to look at. why 2 clocks?

How do you count clocks? The 204 has time displayed at the LCD in the middle of the instrument cluster as well as at the radio display (although one of the clocks disappears oddly when you switch ignition off, cannot remember which one.

The cluster here looks like on from a W212. Looks more sophisticated to me than the simple 204 cluster.

Why the need for extra clocks / timepieces?

Hell, you have one on the LCD display, you have one on your wrist and one on your cell phone.

Personally, I'd rather have two or four more gauges where the analog clock is. Gauges that will, at a glance, tell me about how the engine is doing. Water temp, oil temp and pressure, IAT's, whatever.

If you have that AMG model as in your avatar, don't you already have all that in the cluster computer menus?

Average drivers prefer an easy to read clock more than the transmission oil temperature.

Sathinas 05-30-2010 02:27 PM

I do have the model in the Avatar.

No, I don't have oil pressure, oil temperature, Intake Temperatures, etc. in the cluster LCD.

I have to use my DashDaq for that. Well, no oil pressure on the DD either, but at least I have oil Temp, IAT and the like.

We're not supposed to do a lot of things we do while driving our cars. But we still do them. ;)

joshg1001 05-30-2010 02:36 PM

I actually like that a lot better, design taken from the new E class.

Im also fine with my 09 since we also get the hood guages. If I had an 08, I would consider switching

envyxc350 05-30-2010 04:16 PM

Maybe for the older guys the clock is easier to read, but us new young guys the digital clock on the cluster and radio screen and phone are much easier to read. i agree with sathinas about the intake temp and oil pressure/temp. no need to have more clocks -_-

HenryJr 05-30-2010 06:50 PM

The picture with the clock gauge is of the 2010 model?

Yes, I'd like to upgrade my 2008 instrument cluster.

You got any ideas? ...or are you suggesting that we use an E350 cluster in ?

getno 06-01-2010 11:09 AM

I really like this! 08 cluster is too plain. Any idea where I can get this and approximately how much it would cost ?? thanks

whiteongrey 06-01-2010 10:07 PM

Cluster looks a lot higher end and reminds me immediately of Porsche or some other sport car - can't recall exactly.

Clock is fine but would be cool if you could get the Navi in there.

Is it from E Class or 2012 C Class?

The stock 2008 cluster and the updated 2009 + later clusters look fine.

I think they look really good actually.

That cluster does look like an E style cluster, with a low redline by the way, must be a diesel or something.

I say the cluster in all these cars are decent, and we should just live with them. :)

BenTrovato 06-04-2010 12:53 PM

I think it looks really cool! A little more sophisticated.

I wouldn't do it tho, I have no interest in what time it is :)

dalazernet 06-06-2010 05:16 PM

Eric want.... :-)

Krytech 06-06-2010 05:50 PM

I like it. Looks like what I saw in the new E class I checked out at the dealer last month. The clock is a bit big and worthless but otherwise I like it. I'm afraid to inquire on the price though. I would prefer the hooded cluster vs. my non-hooded '08 cluster.

Additional gauges

You are not going to display oil temp or pressure since the stock setup doesn't. MB has even done away with oil idiot lights.

Just oil level.

Or from a C207? The E-coupe seems to have an E-class style cluster while it otherwise is more like a C-class.
