Coilover recommendations
So after hitting all the car shows this summer I have the urge to lower my car more. Seeing all these Bimmers slammed makes me feel "old".
I was thinking about doing coilovers. How easy is it to raise the car in the back. Can it be done on the ground? I do have a basketball team of kids and an arsenal I throw in the truck every now and then so I want to avoid rubbing. Or should I just stay with my Eibachs? I don't rub anywhere even with 3 people in the back and the rear wheels tucked. I'm amazed! https://img257.imageshack.us/img257/7439/dsc04504o.jpg https://img80.imageshack.us/img80/5073/dsc04502p.jpg https://img710.imageshack.us/img710/8728/dsc04501v.jpg https://img156.imageshack.us/img156/7536/dsc04505os.jpg |
Lets see some pics from the side to see how much poke you have, but from what I'm seeing so far you should be able to lower it without any issues. Remember, as the car drops and goes over bumps, there's a natural negative cambering that occurs which will help with rubbing.
As for coilover setups, you're basically looking at H&R Street, KW Street and V3, Bilstein PSS10, and KSport Kontrol. I can only speak to H&R Street and KW V3s that I've driven/rode in person. V3s great with all the adjustments to height and dampening, but unless you're tracking your car, probably overkill. H&Rs (what I have) are great, but can be a pain in the ass to adjust the rears as you really have to disassemble it to get to the locking nut that sits on top of the assembly. It is the cheaper of the options though. |
It looks good as it sits, but I agree with Michael, H&Rs are your best option. You should also keep in mind that a performance setup is not necessarily a show setup. BTW, great wheels. Mandrus is made for you car so there shouldn't be any rubbing on the fender lip.

i would leave it as is the drop you have now is fine.

H&R is best bang for the buck.
|
What would be the price of the H&R coilovers?

www.tirerack.com
That should give you a base price to work with, but you can probably negotiate somewhat with your local motorsport shop. |
I think it looks great just how it is. Is low enough that it's obviously not stock, but not slammed like your "trying" to hard.
Personally, that's the exact look I'm going for. My Eibach springs and sway bars just arrived today and I'm stoked to get them installed. |

Let us know how it goes....I've got the front bar in, but am still holding off on the rear bar, working up to the whole rear subframe drop with a 3 hour labor op! |
