Question X-PIPE- MAGNAFLOW OR EXHAUST DEPOT ?

I have a '10 c300. I need your tips in between the magnaflow and the exhaust depot x-pipe. Wat i like about the depot one is that it has flared ends so its full bolt, you dont have to weld. look at the video. Any one that has owned or hear it in person ?!?

I would greatly appreciate your tips !

first of the exhaust depot isnt a full bolt on. it bolts on to where the cats are. you have to weld the pipes that go towards the mufflers. Second you can have an exhaust shop flare the pipe that u have to add on the magnaflow xpipe to make it fit. that what im doing.

I think the best solution will be to take it to an exhaust shop once.

If you have the money, get an Exhaust Depot X Pipe. The Magnaflow one is a cookie cutter one size fits all piece, where the Exhaust Depot is made specifically for the W204. I have an Exhaust Depot X Pipe and I was blown away by the quality of the bends and the welds. Even the installer at the muffler shop commented about the quality of it. For me, it was well worth the extra money to have a custom hand welded exhaust piece made for the car. Also, the sound is perfect in my opinion.

The Exhaust Depot pipes are bolt on where it matters. You do weld at the back, but all that matters is that you bolt onto the cats which this does. Not to mention the legs are spaced perfectly on both ends so that it matches the factory pipes perfectly.

I'm starting to like the exhaust depot one more and more. Quality is great. Less rasp. More tolerable/pleasing depending on what the threshold of your drone/rasp tolerance is. For $175 shipped, it includes the x pipe as well as the clamps for the cats, so I'd (as mentioned above by Cure Car) opt for Exhaust Depot.

Magnaflow all the way. They messed with the x-pipe too much and it sounds like junk.

This is exhaust depot on a c350 no less:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y_0mKNr6tww

That sounds like complete garbage, metal, tin sound, and sounds like a ricer. The magnaflow sounds more like infinti exhaust...

And here is a video of magnaflow x-pipe on a c350. This is actually frank W's car from the mbworld forums:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1I9iC...eature=related

I think it sounds much nicer...

And if you don't believe me, look at all the comments from fellow youtubers on the c300 exhaust depot video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mxsoG03ZT0Q

And or the heck of it, c300 magnaflow, starts @ 50 seconds, first part is stock:

Well. It's all personal preference I guess. By the way, Frank drives a C350. The magnaflow on a C300 sounds a tad bit more hollow/raspy compared to that on the C350, but still nice nonetheless.

I guess it's about how you want to be seen. If it's from the standpoint of a person aiming to impress and turn heads, the magnaflow would probably be the way to go.

If you're just someone like me who thinks the C350 just doesn't have enough of an exhaust note, but doesn't wanna go over the top, the exhaust depot could work for my sort of person I guess.

Oops, your right, I got two c350s for a fair comparison. The third video is exhaust depot xpipe on a c300, I will try to find a c300 magnaflow and update it.

Haha. No prob. You don't have to. I've heard em all. :3 A lot of free time a few months ago when I was contemplating whether to do this mod or not. Still contemplating. Actually not so much contemplating. More like trying to find a decent exhaust shop to do the job.

Good video for people who want a comparison from stock to x pipe for C300s.

I dont know about C300's, but there is NO rasp at all with an Exhaust Depot X Pipe for a C350. The rasp comes from it being stamped and not having as smooth of exhaust flow, like the Magnaflow. It is impossible to tell from a youtube clip, I have heard both in person, and both sound pretty good. But, in my personal opinion the Exhaust depot sounds great and is far better quality. Not to mention, this piece is custom made to fit these cars which was the main selling point for me. If it was a Civic, then I would have considered a Magnaflow

Haha, how exactly did they "mess with the x pipe too much"? Nothing really gets "messed" with until you have to install a Magnaflow and try to get to fit correctly.

I'll admit, nothing's really "messed" too much on the exhaust depot x pipe. I think it's just that the passageways are more constricted/walls of the piping are thicker so that the sound that it produces is a bit more....hmm, not sure how to describe it.....wholesome? But I'll also have to admit that on a C300...it's not really a charming sound either.

But I'll admit (for the last time I swear! I've done enough admitting) I like the deep throatiness of the magnaflow on the C350.

I don't really know what I was thinking when I typed that, lol. I guess the whole thing about them bending the actual x-pipe instead of the piping coming from the inlets. I don't know much about exhaust but I would guess that if the crossover points (or areas very close to it) are bent, that it would distort airflow and thus, the sound.

Sorry for making you fess up snarling. Haha, either way, both produce a great sound, and I agree that youtube doesn't do the best job at capturing the sound well. I guess you have to hear both to get an accurate comparison. And even then the beauty is in the eye, or ear in this case, of the beholder. And thats the reason why baskin robbins offers 30+ flavors of ice cream.
