amg trunk badge

is it stupid to add amg badge in c180 trunk?

Royce118 07-10-2010 12:22 PM

Don't do it. I'm waiting to debadge mine.. My dealer got so smart to decide to put it on my car when I purchased it.

Better to debadge the C180 and just leave the decklid star.

gorica79 07-10-2010 12:33 PM

why you want to debadge?

you prefer it empty?
no logos at all?

A couple of reasons.

It's cleaner and not cluttered.

And, it's the opposite "statement" of openly bragging, a "sleeper". By debadging, you communicate confidence in what you are driving, and leave others guessing. This trend started in Europe where owners of very high powered models took off badges to then have the fun of surprising the guy next to them at takeoff. Of course, when you pull away, they will figure out what it probably is or is not, but at least you won't be an obvious fake. (referring to the lack of V8)

gorica79 07-10-2010 12:57 PM

any other opinions?

No camera, no parking sensors. It was very difficult to find any manual transmission cars around here, and the 10 that were at other dealers within a few hundred miles were all P1 level of content. This was the only palladium one...all the others were black, white, or mars red.

gorica79 07-10-2010 04:29 PM

you not interested to intall parking sensors/.?

Not at all. I've been parallel parking since learning in New York City 40 years ago. No problems! :y

Worse than stupid... It's a shameful act with no upside. No need to be embarrassed by your Mercedes Benz. Stay stock or debadge if you want to leave people guessing.

And I heard Europe started debadging because of class warfare not to be sleepers... :nix:

kevinwithdabenz 07-12-2010 02:42 PM

ive been thinking about Debadging, but everytime i look at my trunk i love the way the 'C350' Looks. classy and stylish imo.

gorica79 07-12-2010 03:03 PM

wait....let me get it...OUR C W204,just have amg body kit..
this doesnt justify amg badge on trunk?

You are correct. We have an AMG style sport kit for looks only.
The "real" AMG cars have the monster engines and go fast goodies factory installed by AMG and are the only ones that come from the factory with the nice little AMG badge on the trunklid.

BlackjackM 07-12-2010 03:18 PM

I am always a huge fan of debadging, for the simple reason of how clean it looks. However, on the C, I like the way the chrome letters look against the black paint....so I may leave them.

Trunk badges on m/t C300

All the C300's I see here in North Jersey have 4Matic badges on the right rear so my m/t looks like it's missing something. Is there some sort of "6 speed" or other (??) badge that would look good there? I agree putting an AMG badge on a regular C300 IMHO makes you a poser... I think debadging looks good on a modified car but mine's a lease so unfortunately it's gonna stay basically bone stock.

dumontmb 07-12-2010 11:05 PM

Found this one for trucks sofar. It measures 4 1/2 inches long by 1/2 inch tall.

And this one may be kinda silly :nix:

Depends on what country you're from. Some countries find it socially acceptable while others don't.

For example in the states, they would laugh at you for putting a AMG badge on a car that isn't a real AMG. Even if it has a AMG body kit. They typically would call you a poser or something similar.

However, in Asia, some parts of Africa and other parts of the world, the AMG badge comes as standard with the car so long as you selected the AMG sports package on your car. Sports package meaning AMG bumpers, body kit, sports seats, rims, etc but the engine is still your standard non AMG C class engine. In fact, it's MB Germany that installs it already for you. So for me, it really depends on where you are and at the end of the day, it's your car and do whatever makes you happiest. :)

or...it tells people you are driving the lowest model... :) thats just my opinion, but I feel like you wont have a lot of 350s debadging.

exactly... :y:y

debaging a stock no-modded car makes it look like you are driving the lowest model and you don't want people to know...

unless you have a NICELY modded c300 that doesnt look like the standard no option model off the lot, I would not debadge

The reason you see all 4matics up here is because of the weather. I wouldn't put that 6 speed emblem IMO. Leave it stock
