I just bought my wheels and tires (Generals) last October 2009 and probably put 8k miles on it. Brought my car in the dealer for a defect rear sunshade and they also did a multi point inspections. Afterwards, they suggested I need new rear tires soon as thread level is at 5mm. I just want to know long do your tires last with the same size as mine?

5mm is plenty of tread, especially for the summer. They're just trying to upsell you.

On the OEM which were 17" tires, I got 55,000 miles. They were the Michelin HX MXM4s.
