2 Week Old Car, 1 Day Old Scratch
*sigh
Despite parking on the 6th floor of a garage, far away from most cars, someone managed to nick my bumper leaving 4 surface scratches and chipping off some paint.
Just fabulous

Fear not! Any good touch up shop can spot repair it with the Glasurit or similar waterbased base coat system & ceramiclear type clear. Don't let anybody tell you they have to spray the whole panel. All the Benz metallics can be spot repaired perfectly. You will never know it's been touched.
Same goes for the PPG system.

I just had my front license plate holes filled, smoothed, and painted for $225 by a plastic repair shop (they only work on plastic parts of the vehicle). They did a 100% perfect job. I would recommend going to a similar shop instead of a full on body shop to get it fixed. It saved me $175, as the body shop wanted $400.

People are @$$holes. They scratched/keyed my pasenger side a week ago only 2 months after re-painting it.
As much as you try to be proactive you could never account for other peoples jealousy and stupidity.

post pics. Depending on how deep the scratches are, might be able to polish out. For the chip, I'd recommend Dr Colorchip.

I've had 2 stone dents & 1 bumper corner scrape from some careless motorist repaired using the Glasurit system by "Dent Magic" in Cape Town. You would never know the car had been touched. I'm a fussy Virgo.

Also with a two-week old C300 Iridium Silver, I managed to inflict a very narrow 1.5 inch long squiggly-shape scratch down to the metal near the front edge of the rear door, where it abuts the driver's entrance. I think I had a key sticking out of my pants pocket when I leaned in to get something off the front passenger's seat (lesson learned).
The guy who does touch-up for local MB dabbed some silver paint on it for protection, but said it could not be made invisible, except by painting the whole door. He said the flecks in the metallic paint could not be oriented to look seamless.
Hardly anyone would notice, but of course I do.
Is he right, or just being expedient?
Thanks for any insights.

That old BS about having to paint the whole panel is very old generation thinking. Glasurit would have a good laugh.

yup. I've used Dr. Color Chip twice on my 7. Paint match was flawless and came out really well. Best chip repair system I've seen so far, next to full respray. There are limitations though, mainly with how large the chip can be for the system to work.

Here: This corner has been repaired on RHS of the seam below the chrome strip only. 1 hour turnaround - $70 - no stripping. Excuse chamois drying marks on chrome

bad day for the both of us then. My 2 year old spotless car (I rarely drive it, it just reached 7K miles) got hit yesterday and the son of a B ran. I was parallel parked and I took the first spot on the street and even scooted way up. When I got back from dinner 3 hours or so later, I noticed that someone scraped the corner of my rear bumper. its a pretty huge scrape but no dents. I think it will have to repainted though. Pictures to follow.

I have used Dr. Color Chip and it's good for little chips. when I got a 1 inch scratch that went all the way down to the metal, Dr. Color Chip was completely useless. I ended up repairing it myself as a weekend project since everything only cost me $40 with OEM paint from www.touchuppaintonline.com. I figured if it didn't work out, I would bring it to the shop and let them pick up my mess, but to my surprise, the repair took 1.5 hours and it looks perfect. You can never tell it was there.
