Question about cars lowered with springs

Ok so after I lowered my car with euroteck springs, whenever I hit a pothole or go over a speed bump too fast, it makes a slamming noise. My guess is that there is not enough travel distance? Anyways I just wanted to know if any problems would arise with this slamming in the future. Being from NJ/NY area its hard to avoid the holes in the street.

I was interested in Euroteck springs, can you post wheel gap pictures. Do you think it's the coils hitting each other or they might not be installed properly. I would contact Euroteck to find out if this is normal.

Welcome to lowered life, this has happened on all cars I have had lowered with springs to some extent. It will prematurely wear out your shocks eventually, but thats just the "cost to floss" that you pay for the lowered look/performance...

While I understand the look.....what do you mean by "performance"? If anything, ride/handeling and vehicle dymanics have been negatively effected.....this is only a "personal style" thing....What am I missing?

I understand your meaning, but "performance" has no inherent valance. In this case, "performance" means a deterioration. It's similar to saying fast food has a "nutritional" effect, which is true, but it's negative.

Nope, coilovers were one of my favorite mods. Comfort with the ability to adjust your height as you please.

I wonder if w204 coilovers work on the 4matic as well, since it seems the springs are interchangeable.

While harshness of the ride will happen with lowering your car. I believe handling is greatly increased. I'm switching to coilovers once spring hits and the canyons are ready to be run. But just by switching to h&r super sport I can take corners much faster then stock suspension.

I'm also living in HK, that's why I'm planning to install a set of Airspring suspension kit for my W204 and cost around US$3,000 only (including installations). The only disadvantage is the big tank that must be fitted in your trunk and consumes more space. Take a look man!

Really should change struts as well, unless don't care about the safety (bottoming out can be a major safety issue at speed) and ride - they really are tuned to work together after all. Kits are avail.

The setup should be more or less same as changing your normal suspensions and springs. The whole idea is to let you have more flexible control on lower and higher your car simply by pressing the buttons from the remote control to avoid crashing against the bumps. The performance would be the same as what you get for those stiffness adjustable suspension kits.

For sure, you can lower your car as much as possible when you park or cruising around on the main streets, can draws a lot of attentions.

Not a bad price for the kit, how much were you quoted for the install?

Those guys gave me a quote for HK$20,000 including everything for my W204 (Slightly less than US$3,000). But I'm still saving up $, will probably get 'em by mid of this year.

Feel free to ask them for quotations http://www.airspringcar.com/home-eng.htm

Air ride has a different feel then a static coil over suspension so be aware of that. It is not as stiff and more forgiving.

Would that air ride setup be comparable to what is on the sl500 air rides? IF so, it is much more smooth, and the adjustability is cool, raise and lower so you don't hit curbs. But there is much more body roll and feels unstable over bumps. Mercedes has invented the ABC (Active Body Control) which does a great job at stoping this from occurring, but surely you couldn't retrofit such a system onto the w204. And when ABC control is turned off, the ride is much different, not to my cup of tea.

The maintenance costs of ABC aren't too great either.
