Finish installing my Alpine iDA-X305S
After 2 frustrating days I finally finish installing my Alpine head unit.
Here are some pictures. I'm not going to do a step by step so don't ask too lazy.
Here are some picture that I took with the iPhone 4. If you have any question just ask and I'll be more then happy to share.
Parts I ordered..
1 - Single DIN kit ( http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...-CT24MB14.html ) LOL I ordered the last one
2 - Wiring harness ( Part # EWH-1010 ) eBay or just google it for best price.
3 - Antenna Adapter ( Part # EU 06 ) eBay or google

I switch out the unit Cuzz I didn't like the stock look so plain.
Plus I didn't want to keep burin CDs and the aux input was lame. Sound quality was bad.
I wanted something I can use my iPhone and USB and this alpine was of choice.

nice job! if i were to do this i would go all out with touch screen and a head unit that will fill in the empty space of the stock one.

I have it and it actually works well. Expensive for what it is, but I be-friended the parts guy and he sold it to me for $230.
I prefer the clean look of OEM personally. It is plain, but it's elegant and understated. But, to each their own. Enjoy it!

Thanks guys for all the positive feedback and the constructive criticism.
Later in the future I will eventually switch to a DD w/ nav and backup cam. Buy for now this will do.
This alpine retail for $350 but got it for $250. So it was a good deal I couldn't pass up

Interesting. Nice to know we have options when our cars get old and purchasing a replacement headunit might be too expensive from Mercedes. Curious though, do you still have bluetooth capability when pairing with your phone? Also, can you still access the headunit through the buttons on your steering wheel or the car and your new headunit don't talk to each other anymore?

The button in the steering wheel that cintroll the value and track change doesn't work but I heardly use them anyways. The bluetooth from the car doesn't work but I have the Bluetooth kit with the alpine so I didn't loose that function. If u like to keep the function from the steering wheel alpine also have that kit to make it work but I don't care to use it.

OMGGG !! SO CIVIC LOOK MAN ! IT MERCEDES BRO ! OMGGG .. STILL CANT BELIEVE SOMEONE WOULD DONE THIS TO A LOVELY MERCEDES ........By the way, it looks Fxxx ugly .. i am sorry.. that just my personal opinion.... To be honest, i think it will looks cool on a civic or corolla ... but not on a C class ... Maybe u should debadge the C300 and put CIVIC on it! THEN IT WILL LOOK PERFECT !

By installing this headunit you lose functionality of the top screen?
So now you have a useless screen?
I understand your reason, but think you could have come with a better alternative.
Glad you like it, but it does truly look out of place in that center console.
Sorry.

If the others don't like your setup, they could chip in for one that looks better, with no concern for the sound. Or, Mercedes could have gotten on the ball and made a better factory system that didn't necessitate changing out for discriminating music listeners.

Yeah u loose function from the steerung controll/ knob by cup holder, bluetooth and the top screen.
The top screen was used for storing my shades more then looking at for me and I never use the knob or steering control anyways. Well maybe the value on the steering wheel but that's it.
Changing the track from the steering was a hassle when u can just reach over and hit one button.
The easy of the USB connection and the function of Pandora on the iPhone is way well worth it.
And for the guys that worried about me ruining the MB image. MB ruin it's own image by having a LAME aux input sound quality.
Oh well there kinda smart in a way. Gotta make money some how right. They charge an arm and a leg for service that are the same as a Kia.
Oil change $300 plus are u crazy. DIY !

What is so bad about the stock AUX input. Volume too low? They had a TSB fix for that 3 months ago and it is great now. Also, the stock headunit can provide great sound, it is the base audio 20 speakers that SUCK! I personally don't like the mod. It seems to me to be a step down from the Mercedes system in terms of features and looks. Also, I just use A2DP transmitter and that is by far the easiest.
