Indeed - and it's a damn good guide!

Not sure if anybody else has mentioned this, but I've never seen a fully synthetic have a recommended change interval of 3500mi. Nor even 5k -- they may exist, but i've not seen it.

If you change out this fully syn oil + fleece filter more often than 7500 miles IMO you're throwing money away. That's for the paranoid out there. For the rest, the 10k recc from MB seems solid to me.

(Of course all bets are off if you drive this car really, really hard. That requires diff maintenance and deeper pockets)

Hello, I'm running 51k miles with my 08 sports and desperately in need of a transmission serivce. I found an alternative shop to the dealer that will do it for less price ($200) that will use Shell synthentic oil. Would you guys think this will make any difference? I'm almost just tempted to take it to the dealer not to worry.

Shell makes a lot of ATF oils. Make sure it's ATF134. Be absolutely, 100% sure. In fact, don't say "Are you using Shell ATF134" -- you don't want a lazy tech to just say "uh, yeah, that's right." Instead, I'd ask "You said shell ATF would be used -- specifically what spec?"

Other than that, if they seem established and to do a brisk business, I'm sure you'll be fine.

went to the dealer today and to my surprise they asked me why i needed the tc drain plug replacement and the crush washer for... i told em i was draining the tc too... and they told me when they do a tranny fluid service they only drop the pan and replace exactly 6 qts and it's done.. weird.. and i asked the other dealership around me and asked them what they did and they just said drop the pan and replaced filter and i asked them if they drained the tc too and they said no... so basically $300+ for a fluid change that isnt all of the fluid.. very odd..

MB of Annapolis quoted me $725 for the tranny fluid and filter change. 18.5 pints they say and 2 hours labor. I'm still searching for a local shop to do the work that can be trusted.

yea i just did mine and it's easy... get the tranny fluid from the link i posted up above... it'll put all 12qts at around $60 then just get all the parts Glyn mentioned in the pdf and then just get someone familiar with cars to do it for like $50 and your good to go..

I am about to try this using John's instructions. Is there anything different in the part numbers for the automatic W204 (C300) and crankshaft wrench size?

I've serviced the Borg Warner GR6 dual clutch transaxle gearbox. Seems like the same steps involved, minus the refill point and draining the torque converter.

I know we are all talking about the autos here but what about us six speeders? I have just under 15K on the clock and im buying all my stuff for the upcoming maintenance before it comes so im not spending a lot all at once. I can do just about anything on a car in my garage so I'm not worried. I just need the instructions. Thanks.

How would you describe your method of driving from 1 to 10, 1 being an old foagy & 10 flogging it consistently?.

There seems to be a fair mount of band material inside the oval hole on the floor of the filter .

It's my wife's car. She drives like an old lady. Very light on the pedal.

I drove her car maybe ten times. I took it easy on her car too.

I would say a sub five. If this is any indicator, she gets 30 MPG in Atlanta traffic.
