I really don't think they would have taken the time to start a thread if they weren't serious.

To the OP, the answer is no.

Did the dealer tell you that?? I seriously hope this was a Prank from a friend or I'd be worried about how sketchy the dealer is.

You sound distressed, so please understand this is not meant to be mean-spirited. Your question is among a surprising number here which could have been easily answered by reading the Owner's Manual which came with your car. The instructions for jumping the battery start on page 366 (for the 2009 model year version). If the procedure is outlined in the Owner's Manual, how could it void the warranty, if the manufacturer's directions are followed?

Here is a real answer to your question, yes it could, if done improperly. If you cross the cables, reverse charging your system, and blow out the bcm or pcm, or fry the wiring harness or alternator, you are screwed, as it is not a manufactuers defect in material or workmanship, it is human error. If done correctly, following the procedure in your owners manual, then no, it wont. I , personally, wouldnt use my $40k plus car to jump start anything; use AAA or Mercedes free roadside if a Benz, is free for life, or buy a Hot shot jump box and carry it in your trunk.

Dealer will look for any excuse to void your warranty, they like cash work better and are afraid to send back parts that failed, if not legit, because the manufactuer wil not pay them, and they eat the repair internally.

Considering the cost of repairs on the MB, not a bad question.

If the dead battery has a short in it, wouldn't you stand a chance of damaging something in your MB even if you follow the directions?

If the battery has a short, all you'll damage is the other battery and your jumper cables. However, lead acid batteries cannot short unless damaged. I did unfortunately drill a hole through mine last weekend...... stupid stupid......
