Tire Problem With 18in AMG Wheels
Well after no problem with the Benz for the first 9 months or 7k miles i have hit the first. It seems i picked up a nail on my way home from work on the drivers side rear tire. The nail went into the last strip of tire tread right before the belly of the tire. The local tire shop fixed it but the guy mentioned a new tire would be recommended due to patch location. So i was wondering if any of u have had to buy a tire online or off a reputable seller. The tire is a continental contactpro 255/35r18. I need the same tire with the same tread on it due to leasing terms. Thanks for your help in advanced.

typically unless the puncture is in the immediate sidewall, you really should not have a problem....
did they apply the patch/plug from the inside of the tire ? Have it patched properly and balance and you should be good to go, it's only a nail hole, not a gaping hole, caused by a knife or some other sharp object
I had the same on a different car and tire, but ran that tire until it was bald and ready to be replaced, never an issue with it, and had no problems with it at all....
This is of course only my opinion, take the info for what it is

Well i have ran the tire for 60 miles and the pressure monitor read as high as 38lbs and no problem. I may just run the tire until the patch holds. I quoted a tire for $248 shipped at tirerack.com. thanks for all the info guys

As long as the steel belt is not broken causing a bulge then an internally inserted tulip is fine. No need to replace the tyre.

This will have no effect here, but a friend who is a recently retired Field Rep with Bridgestone has told me that repaired tires lose their speed rating.
