DIY "How to remove the upper and lower chrome window trim on your W204"

I told everyone I would make a how to video so here it is. Please excuse the text in the middle of the clips as the program I used to convert it was a free version. I hope you enjoy and if there are any questions please feel free to ask!

GHAZAN 06-11-2011 05:20 PM

nice vid, still ended up breaking the black plastic end caps last year when i did them

xXHotelCrazyXx 06-11-2011 10:45 PM

thanks guys, this is very easy to do if your confident enough! Very very easy!

no need to remove the mirror. You can just pop the chrome piece up like you did and then pull. It slides out and when you're done, you can slide it back in.

xXHotelCrazyXx 06-12-2011 12:41 AM

I didn't want to risk rubbing the paint off sliding it under the mirror. It was simply precautionary and better safe than sorry ;)

Richard2011 06-12-2011 02:52 PM

You did a great job! I'll have to do this very soon!

xXHotelCrazyXx 06-12-2011 03:31 PM

Thanks rich, let me know how it goes

Richard2011 06-12-2011 03:50 PM

Will do! With the lower trim pieces, does the rubber come off, or do you still have to slide the tape under the rubber?

xXHotelCrazyXx 06-12-2011 04:22 PM

The trim on the lower is all one piece. Rubber and chrome

I guess this video also doubles as a DIY for how to remove the mirror for that LED mirror cover on Ebay. Except this is just how to remove the housing from the car, but not how to remove the panel from the mirror. Additionally, I also know how to remove the tweeter in this video! Thanks!

xXHotelCrazyXx 06-12-2011 07:24 PM

+1 thanks

Kenc1103 06-13-2011 01:22 AM

So my question is what do you do after removing the chrome trim, vinyl wrap them?

xXHotelCrazyXx 06-13-2011 02:01 AM

Yes....experimented with vinyl and plastidip...both look great

nonfatmilk 06-13-2011 03:58 PM

If you **** up, how much does a new set of chrome trim cost?

tehc300 06-13-2011 05:07 PM

wow great DIY bud. Gonna be trying this over the weekend.

NP! Let me know how it goes!

Kenc1103 06-14-2011 09:20 PM

Would it be ok to just remove upper chrome without putting it back? I had the lower chrome vinyl wrapped and it took me a long time

xXHotelCrazyXx 06-14-2011 09:24 PM

No because it will leave a gap and the clips/holes would be visible

Samieee 06-14-2011 09:54 PM

Thanks for the great video. I will be doing this soon

xXHotelCrazyXx 06-14-2011 09:56 PM
