Ooooh 3-D Altezza tail lights, SWEET!

silversx 02-08-2012 09:40 AM

are you serious.. those taillights.. wow.. straight off ebay retrofitted from a civic

tasho3 02-08-2012 10:00 AM

ummm you guys never seen a car being tested in camo with those taillights. I guarantee you %1000 the final product will look nothing like that

I agree Finished product wont look at all like that one.

C300Kid 02-08-2012 12:24 PM

CLEARLY those aren't the actual taillights..I assumed the first couple posters were joking.

Looks pretty nice proportionally. I'm still more excited about the CLC for some reason. The thought of a VW GLI MB-style appeals to me. I hope it's sportier than the C-Class.

wooha 02-08-2012 12:43 PM

did a little researching and the one thing is for sure it's definitely to have more poise and elegence... all the renders seem to be leaning cls-ish'... :zoom:

This is old news...https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...ike-these.html

The vehicle in the article the OP posted is a test mule.

Expect the W205 to look something like this... (although something is telling me not to hold my breath.)

The headlights remind me of a Nissan Maxima and the rear end looks like an Audi A4. Hopefully the actual design looks better than this.

Sportstick 02-08-2012 03:12 PM

Of course it's a mule and will not resemble any final product! The proportions are all wrong...look at the spindle to heel relationship...that front end is quite stretched. It is most likely testing a new engine, possibly an inline 6, or some other new development which requires a disproportionately long front clip.

wnunez89 02-08-2012 03:57 PM

the w205 is hideous -_-

eliteskill 02-08-2012 06:39 PM

I hope it wont look like anything in the spy pictures or render. The spy pictures shows the rear not proportional to the front (kinda like a BMW 1series) *yuck* o_O. Im hoping for a inline 6 as well, or something turbo charged with 300hp~ *a guy can dream right?*

Is that a Sonata?

Thank god someone here gets sarcasm.

nyca 02-08-2012 08:46 PM

Why would they switch to an inline 6? I just hope there is a 6 cylinder offering at all, that CAFE rules don't force them into 4 cylinder (or smaller!) power only. I won't buy a 4 cylinder car in this price range, no matter how many turbos it has.

MDMercedesGuy 02-08-2012 09:23 PM

I'd love to see them go back to an inline-6.

That would get me to buy a 6 cylinder... not a fan of V style engines here.

Stevedotmil 02-08-2012 09:38 PM

That artist redering looks like a cross between a new Volvo S60 front and a new A4 rear with Hyundai Sonata sides thrown in for good measure. Sheesh. I think I'll keep what I have for a while. Plus I have the manual and I don't really see myself giving that up anytime soon.

jctevere 02-08-2012 10:38 PM

Yeah, I have to agree. I'm not a fan of 4 cylinders. I traded in my 2009 c300 for a 2012 c250 coupe and it certainly is NOT the same. It doesn't feel as fast or powerful. However, I must say that is a surprisingly smooth and refined, nothing like honda or hyundai 4-cyl cars. You wouldn't know it wasnt a 4 cyl if it weren't for the lack of power. Perhaps if it were a bi-turbo it would have been much better, but the c250 is a little "ehhhhh".

MBRedux 04-19-2012 04:23 PM

Yet another CG W205 concept... with slightly reworked front end and rear quarter... I doubt that Mercedes will design something this far removed from the current layout... but we'll see soon enough at the next Frankfurt Auto Show.

Looks like a new Hyundai or Kia more than an MB.

Agreed! I believe Ifiniti holds that record though.... remember that it is a global market and the Chinese are demanding more aggressive styles than you think! Competition is high!

The Hyundai Tiburon

Yeah, there are a lot of people saying that the current w204s would be difficult to distinguish from Japanese/Asian cars on the road today if not for the badges, I think that it is not that Mercedes is losing it's edge just that other auto makers have really stepped up. Some of the new Hyundais I've seen on the road actually look pretty nice. Not saying that I'd go buy a Genesis or spend upwards of $60k for the Equus(which I think is ludicrous) but they look way better than previous offerings.

I have to agree, after having a C250 loaner recently. The power is terribly sluggish and not-effortless. I'm now a speed-seeker by any means, but I need effortless movement, and the C250 wasn't that, and the turbo-lag or whatever made it delay when you needed quick takeoff was very bad. Though, yes, it's incredibly smooth and refined while driving, the worst part though is that hideous sound at idle (mini-tractor-diesel 4 banger tap), which along with 4 cylinders, D/I isn't helping.

Aside from that, I love the car, and the facelifted C has an interior that makes it feel like a mature and elegant Benz again.

MDMercedesGuy 04-24-2012 12:13 AM

I'm about 2,000 miles in now, so it's broken in and I'm getting a feel for the car.

It definitely has some quirks in power delivery, but I would hardly call it sluggish or say that it isn't effortless. It feels quicker if you don't stand on it though - the turbo is too small to help it much at the top end. It's definitely more of a midrange puller - nice for merging or such. It's definitely relaxed in E, but scoots away from a light without feeling like it is exerting itself. S improves things a lot - it's got a bit of Jekyll and Hyde thing going on, but I find that I use E about 90% of the time.

:nix: I think it fits the car well. It's definitely a more pleasant sound to my ears than the V6 - I'm not a fan of a gritty sounding exhaust note during acceleration. I'm averaging 23MPG with it with a city-heavy mix of driving without really trying, as well.

Car and Driver noted in their recent test how good the four sounded. Only MB has that.
