Any former BMW owners??
What was your deciding factor in getting a MB?
|
got tired of the dicks on the bmw forums....plus Oakleys and bluetooth ear pieces started to go out of style.
jk I go back and forth between the two having owned a 318 and 328 in the past and a 745, but really just comes down to what strikes my fancy. |

So I could have one of each. . |
I used to have a 325ci. I liked it...well the fact it was paid off. But I really like the look of the c300. Never thought I'd own one until I decided to test drive one and figured, why not. I think i'll stay with MB for a few more cars. Their customer service is great. Plus, its a freakin Mercedes Benz, ultimate in luxury brands.

Either car looks good enough, and I don't care who else buys/drives them. It's all about the driving experience, and living with it day to day. |
Switching from E90 M3 to C63, hopefully by the end of the month.
|
Not a former, but a current one. :naughty: Both have their pros and cons. :y

Used to have a 335i Mercedes has a more comfortable ride, and i like the new style on the C Class. Bmw has a sportier ride so for me it came down to style and interior comfort.
|
I have no BMW. I always buy high reliable cars recommended by Consumer Report, at least "above average" rating. Starting in 1994 I always buy new cars, 94 Altima, 96 Maxima, 00 RX300 and 02 QX4. I was looking at Prius but my daughter does not like it. Happened to find MB C-class reliability is up to "average" by CR. In two weeks I bought it.
I know everything can be further engineered but overall this C provides me with 100% satisfaction (so far). |
Long time BMW owner, now C Class and E63 owner. Mercedes is just making the nicer cars now; plain and simple.
|
I think the gap in performance between the two is closing now so for me it Benz . I think all the new bummers except the 1 series are bland looking . I love old bummers though , first m3 and 2002 are sick cars . Even the last generation m3 us better looking than the current model IMO .
|
Had a X5, literally the worst car I ever owned. The only reason I bought it was because the first gen ML had awful reliability ratings.
The ride was amazingly harsh and stiff for a "luxury" car. Plus the interior ergonomics were terrible, why should the window switch be near my forearm and not my finger tips??? The interior is boring, plain cheap and dark. Plus more than anything, the inline 6 made so little power that it was CONSTANTLY winding out. As soon as I bought the ML, I was an MB fan for life! |
My 3 previous cars were BMW ('94 325is, '97 M3, and '04 330ci) and I was currently shopping BMW again when I spotted a C350 parked face to face with a 335i - from an overall style standpoint, the C350 walked the bland look of the Beamer, even with the sport package 18's...So, I decided to test drive a couple and felt the performance was very similiar, even a little nicer ride in the MB...good choice, I am very happy with this car and still feel it is a much better looking car than the 3 series...the newest 3's are looking real nice though...hmmmm

Owned 2 e46 3 series coupes. Now own a c300.
Interior = Benz wins Handling = BMW wins  Speed and acceleration = BMW wins Aftermarket tuning = BMW has loads. Cosmetic upgrade = BMW has loads. Luxury = Benz wins Status= Benz all the way Yearly service = BMW at 15k per service. Benz at 12.5k yearly. The only reason I would go back to BMW, if I can afford the new m5. All the other new models look crap. They have lost their aggressive look factor they once had. |
I think Benz is really getting close to BMW with handling, speed and acceleration with the most recent update to suspension, and transmission of the C63.
"The is no Replacement for Displacement." |
I think MB handles just as good as Bimmer, (model dependent). It's that BMW excels in steering "feel" due to MB's lean towards luxury while BMW towards sport. Well, they used to be more sport oriented. They are heading down a more luxurious path now. Even the M models. But that's a whole other thread.

I just saw the ne 3 series at my dealership. liked it from the front, except angel eyes which looked too bling bling for me, side was kinda the same looking, inside the screen on the dash is nice and big, but kinda looks like an ipad or piece of toast sticking up. |
I had 02 m3 and 04 325 convertible but I had never had MB so I wanted to get one. Three MBs later, now I've converted... I'm sticking MB, although I like BMW free service for 1st 50k a lot better
|
Came to MB from a 2008 CPO Z4 Sport. Needed more seats. Miss the fun but missed the six speed too. If I go back I will get an E86 M coupe.
|
Had an '06 325 that I hated. The MB has better style, more comfort, astronomically better interior, and idrive vs command isn't even a contest.
