2010 c300 installing subwoofer/amp questions HELP!

I'm considering putting 2 alpine type R 12" subs being run on two alpine mrp500 amplifiers. I have a few questions that I can't find answers to anywhere, or maybe im blind because I'm new here ! I would really appreciate any input. I don't know whether I would use a sealed or ported box. Nor am I aware if I would need a capacitor/extra battery. Also, those will wire Into the stock stereo I hope? Lastly, will these be loud enough to pass through the trunk? Since the seats do not fold down it scares me that I won't get a good rumble
In the back of my seat ! Thanks in advance.

I have a JLaudio HD750 for my sub amp pushing 2 w6 12s in a sealed custom fit box and it shakes the car in front of me's mirrors if I pump it. U dont need 500 each sub, waste of power. Good subs dont need too much, 500-750 mono amp is plenty. You can search here for sub or amp and lots of installs come up. Depends on what system you have is whether its easier or harder. Its a pain either way, you need a 4 guage minimum from the battery to the amp, I used 0 guage w 2 amps and if im pumpin the dashboard background lights flutter a little bit.

So you have one 750 watt powering 2 w6's ? Are you running on the stock stereo ?

i don't know what your budget is like but you can save lots of trunk space with the JL Audio 13TW5-3 13.5" Sub 2000W Thin-Line Car Subs
and you still get some hard punch. I used to have 2 alpine type R 12 on my old jetta years ago,my jl subs are crisper and louder

i used the JL Audio Slash 1000/1v2 Mono Amp to power the subs and i do admit that was OVER-KILL, however i don't regret it. i don't have a capacitor nor extra battery cause that all would just make your alternator work overtime to charge the second battery. NO NEED FOR EITHER.

and you do need at least gage 4 cable

I have a sealed box and crazy good. the box is like 4-5 inches deep so i still got all my trunk space.

check my post when i got my system

What made you chose sealed over ported ?

And what's the clean sweep do?

Is it powerful enough that you can feel it in the front seat?

i took my whip to the experts http://www.wwstereo.com/car-and-mobile
they custom built the box based on the manufacturer specs for the subs.
As i said before with Amp (JL Audio Slash 1000/1v2 Mono Amp) that it was overkill.
I have the gain at the lowest setting and the subs are just so damn loud.
You can be sitting on the driver side and turn it up loud and it can get to the point that your ears will hurt and end up with a damn headache.

Ive tested the subs with that song Late Night Tip by 3 six Mafia and I've place a cup of water on the cup holder and damn does the water move.

From what i saw on youtube all the Gangstas test their system to that song.
the sound system really rocks

the clean sweeper does "connects to your factory radio's speaker wires, then takes the output of your factory radio and eliminates the peaks and valleys of the preset equalization, leaving a pure, unadulterated signal for your aftermarket amplifiers, speakers, and subs to work with. Your music will spring to life, with resonant lows, sparkling highs, and a realistic sense of depth and presence."

Oh I see ! Well I'm sort of on a tight budget, being a college student and affording this car is rather ruff haha. So I'm focused around 1000-1200 for a system. That's why the type R's appealed to me. Not to expensive and tons of good reviews. I'm thinking going ported for mine though. My main concern was not being able to feel the bass since the trunk is sealed and the seats don't fold down!

I'll have to be a gangster and try out that song lol.

This is what I have in my C300...

-Hybrid Audio Technologies Stage V Legatia L6V2 Speakers
-Hybrid Audio Technologies Stage V Legatia L1V2 Tweeters
-Hybrid Audio Technologies Stage V Legatia L2x Two-Way Vertically-Biamplified Passive Crossovers
-Alpine 4 Channel Amplifier PDX-F6
-Alpine Mono Amplifier PDX-M12
-Alpine Processor PXE-H660
-JL Audio Subwoofer 10W7AE-3

Obviously I wasn't on a budget. What are you trying to get out of your 1000-1200? Just a sub, amp, and box?

I went with the 2 alpine type r 12"s each running on an alpine m500 amplifier and damn does it sound good. Shakes my entire car, shakes your hair, and takes the breath out of you It hits so hard. Running them in a ported box (pictures will be soon to follow). Cost me 650$ for subs and amplifiers with 3 year warranties off of soniceletronix.com saved me around 400$ off retail and has extended warranties. Everyone thinks I'm running a couple thousand dollars worth of subwoofers it's great. Next is speakers and a 4 channel amp, my only concern is can the stock deck handle another amp with speakers ? Or even just a 4 chan amp on all the factory speakers ?

You will need lineout converters if you want to throw in another amp for your speakers. If you want to replace the stock speakers you will need to drill out the rivets. That was a nice surprise. If you look at my setup you can see I have two amps. The only thing stock is the head unit.

Did you ever try the second amp on the stock speakers to see if it made any type of significant difference ? I'm curious whether I'll need to get another set of speakers or not.

Here is the disclaimer: If you choose to go down this route you will sacrifice the bluetooth's ability to filter out echos and road noise. The reason for this is the aftermarket amp. I found that its not that big of a problem. Turn the volume down and everyone is happy.

I did not try running the 4 chan. amp to the stock speakers because I repalced the mids and tweets, running them to the x-overs and processor. I wouldnt install an amp for the stock speakers. It just depends on what you want to do. I'm not a bass head so thats why I went with a 10'' single sub. Seems you like the SPL so you looking for an ear bleeding system?

Ear bleeding is a stretch, but enough to keep my music loud on a windy day considering I love driving with the windows down and here in Vegas winds get around 70+ and its hard to hear lol. Yes I could just roll up the windows, but ehh haha. I just want something a little louder then what the stock audio 20 provides.

Here's a little start to finish on what I installed. Great thing is I can still access my spare and jack. Had to score the cover at the start of the box.

Man that looks awesome ! I don't usually go in my truck do it's just a matte black ported box bolted to my back seats with the amps mounted behind it out of view. I'm on my way home from California just passing Barstow so in a few hours I'll have pictures posted. How much did you pay for Amps, speakers, crossovers etc

From what I remember the stock system was impressive for being stock. If you havent done this already, select the volume and then boost. You're on a budget so it all ***** down to how much you want to throw at it.

Yeah man I love music to! Just being a college student kind of kills the whole throwing money at it lol. I just want a decent pair of speakers and a 4 chan amp to get it a tad bit louder.

I'll stick with Alpine since you already have the Type R subs and M500 amp. I would pick up the F300 amp and Type S or R speakers. Whatever your wallet will allow.

My shop will start installing may 1st but ill give you an idea of the setup.

I will be replacing all speakers with hybrid audio
We will use one 5 channel amp for speakers/sub
Sub will be JL 12 w6 v2

Now, I also have non folding rear seats which presents a problem
Numerous ppl said you can have a slamming setup but will only shake the **** out of the trunk and lose the majority of the sound due to the firewall seperating the cabin from trunk

So this is where it gets fun
I(m going to cut open the firewall creating a pass through where the armrest folds down which will allow the sound to transfer into the cabin uninterrupted

Now by doing this you could go with just about any box, but we have decided to build a custom bandpass box that will port directly through the open ski port, should be sick
