2012 w204 license plate lights

so i decided to change them since they were too dim
for my taste...factory 2012s come with led license plate lamps but they give off a slight yellowish glare and not bright at all so after disassembling the license plate housing i notices they are totally different from previous models...go figure huh? so my question is...anyone find a replacement yet?

How different are they? I was hoping I could get the factory OEM license plate lights for my 2008 because I prefer the dim OEM look in comparison to the aftermarket bright leds that look a bit ricer IMO.

the older ones are just a t10 wedge base bulb so its not a problem finding aftermarket or replacement bulbs...the new facelift is a whole new connector for the LED so i wasted $30 on a set just to find that out...i need to take some pics but its a PITA to disassemble that thing...

Does anyone know if the OEM 2012 license plate LED lights will work on 2008-2011 models without any errors?

I do like the 2012 LEDs rather then the super bright aftermarket rice look.

It's a whole different connection. You can find LEDs for pre-facelift models all over eBay and the Internet. Single LED or the one I bought and ended up throwing away had 20 LEDs in one housing.

These lights I have in my 204 and they are very bright. Work great in license plate and interior. However they do throw errors in the headlight eyebrows.

Has anyone found a replacement yet? I just ordered the ones off of IJDMTOY but then cancelled it once I realized it didn't fit. I got a led kit for the interior and exterior of my 2012 W204 but couldn't find anything for the license plate lights.

Bought a set of bulbs that the rep from ijdmtoy said would fit my car, he gave me bulbs that fit the pre FL models 2008-2011. 2012+ they dont use individual bulbs anymore, they use entire plug and play modules. That being said ijdmtoy isnt refunding me because past 30 days although they were the ones who told me to buy them. The correct license plate led is a full module plug and play for anyone who wants to change their license plate leds for 2012+ c class.

removing the chrome bar on the rear trunk seems to be a pain in the *** however.... cant seem to pop that out which is necessary if you want to change the factory led module.

We could have told you that and that was lazy on that vendor's part to not check. Facelifted models has an integrated design that isn't plug and play swappable. It is a real PITA to swap out the housing.

Just for my own curiosity, are these the all in one light modules that fit pre facelift some of you are talking about in this thread?

I replaced mine with regular LED W5W bulbs. Those all in one units seem like they would be too bright.

Specifically for license plates, I'd want the DIMMEST possible lights that still make it legal. The only thing that could be better is not having a plate at all.
