can you disable fog light turn feature?
I've searched to no avail, and would like to know if there is a way to disable the fog lights in my 09 c350 not to turn on when turning left or right without the fog lights switched on...... I know I can turn them on full time. I'm tired of people telling me my right fog light is out when turning left and visa versa, and having to explain to them how stupid Mercedes was for thinking this was a good feature.

Yup, I've looked into it and talked to several techs about it. Can't do it. And as a result, my HID fogs suffer. I might switch back to halogens or something at this rate. I've already gone through two ballasts over the span of about a year and a half.

I've been thinking about wiring both lights to only one side, that way it will never look like one is out, both would just be on or none would be on depending on which way you have the wheels turned or if they're manually on. I just don't like them cause they make the car look like a bulb is out.
Would problem would I run into? would I have to increase the fuse amperage for one side? would doing that be okay?
I've been planning on doing it especially if I install DRL LEDs to the fogs on my 08.

If you have it on auto or the regular headlights on section (all the way to the right) then the fogs will still turn on by themselves when you signal or turn a certain direction. The only way to prevent this so far is to just have the fog lights on at all times.

Lol, it's not the rear tail light fogs that we're concerned with though. On P2 packages, we have a function called Corner-Illuminating Foglights that activate the fog lights of whatever direction you signal/turn to. Sadly though, this function doesn't have THAT much use and instead just looks like you have a broken fog light to some, while others like me with HID fogs just end up with a much-reduced ballast/bulb life.

Hi all, you can turn the fog turn function off. I just had it done today! Reason I had mine switched off was because I connected my drls to the fog output so that i could retain the fog entry/exit lighting on my drls. Only problem was that when i turned the drls would flicker on switch on and off. If you look at the fogs during turning you will see they get brighter hit their peak output then dim off. This voltage sweep doesnt work for Leds and they flicker on switch on and off. Solution was to switch the fog turn function off using Star developer. AFAIK it was one setting and my mechanic knew immediately which one it was because he added this functionality to his W203. I will try to find out tomorrow which parameter it is that needs to be toggled off.

My fog cornering light was switched off using DAS Developer mode. My mechanic wasnt convinced the w204 could be done with the Xentry system but you never know. Here`s where you need to go;
Driver side sam > Development Data > Control unit adaptations > Adaptations. Then you will find Parameter Abbiegelicht. This will currently be set to Yes or Ja. Change this to Nein and you are all done.

I am no expert. All I am saying is that this was how it was done on my car and this information was given to me by a mercedes specialist who did this on my car yesterday.

I guess it's the P2 cars that come with this. Also, it's not necessary a complaint that encompasses everyone. It's just that due to the fact that I installed HID fogs, I now suffer from flickering unless I keep them on at all times. This is probably my fault as I should have checked before installing them or researched it more. But besides that I'm sure that this feature is greatly useful for some, while for others it may just look like a broken foglight (though in actuality it's a simple matter of function over form). Anyways, I might have my dealership look at it again if they can this upcoming monday since recently I discovered a nick in my driver's seat that I want fixed. I'll update on it when I get the chance.

An easy fix for this would be to install a relay setup to power BOTH fog ballasts right off the realy, use a 30amp, and run the trigger wire to one of the headlights so they are on w the headlights only. Take your stock fog harness and either black out the bulbs and leave them zip tied behind the lamp housing to avoid an error, or grab a 4 pack of LED resistor heatsinks and wire them in 2 per side to stop the error of the fog light out if you choose to remove them.......

Regardless, it's taken this long for a solution to surface but I don't care anymore since the standard fog bulbs put out so little light that I never notice just one coming on.

My point being that I think it's standard across the board. The complaining about this started in mid-2007 when the first cars were being delivered and I don't think there were many P2 cars then, either.

Awesome! it can be done on a W204!
Today I disabled the fog light turn feature with my own DAS w/developer kit.
I have a '09 P2 package and it was driving me nuts. People think you have a burnt fog light when you turn corners. Interesting feature but useless in most cases.
Here are the DAS instructions:
Disable Cornering Fog lights (W204)
Control Units > Body > System Dr-Side SAM > Dr-Side SAM Signal Acquisition > Development data > Control Unit Adaptations > Control Unit Adaptations (Variant Coding) > Parameter Abbiegelicht > "Enable_Abbiegelicht" >>> Set to nein
