Definitely not a fan of those 3 huge circular air vents either. Seems odd, but I'll wait to see it on the finished product before I really judge it.

The BMWs iPadish screen is longer and narrower. And I do believe the A class came out before the 3 series with the new iPad look, nevertheless I think it's going to look good.

I'm indifferent on the exterior shots. But the interior ones makes me REAL GLAD I bought a 2012! If the 2012s looked like that I'd be driving a GT500 instead!

They really need to make it available here for them to have any shot at all of me purchasing another. In the large sedans like the E and S, maybe they can stick to all autos. But I've no interest in another small automatic Benz.

Is that official? No chance of them surprising us by bringing it back? This isn't the first time the manual has not been available, after all. In the W203 years they seemed to take it a lot more seriously than now. But for the W202, it wasn't available.

Is this mainly for their service department's sake? Other than making it easier for mechanics to not have to learn how to work on a different transmission I don't see why MBUSA is so hell bent on not allowing manual transmissions?
I've been having this ongoing conversation with MBUSA on their owner's forum for about a year. They are dedicated to eliminating the manuals and seem content to let those of us who want one to shop elsewhere. The new CLA may be a chance to modify this policy, but from what they've said so far, all Cs will from now on, be automatic.

They claim the low volume does not justify the engineering development, US federal certification, manufacturing complexity, and sales and inventory management. They calculate approximately 3% take rate, but I suspect they are using the wrong denominator....all US C Class vehicles, instead of taking the volume as a percent of where it is available....rear wheel drive C300 only...to more accurately reflect market demand.

Well then I guess we will shop elsewhere. As I've said before, it does not matter how good of an automatic the car has (and how good the 7G is I would consider debatable) - how fast it shifts or how instant it responds to a manual mode selection - it is not a substitute for a manual. It is never going to be as much fun for people like you or me.
